Angel seems to be over eating but not gaining weight

Angel is my 8 month old female who was just spayed. she is 21" tall at front shoulders and weighs 58 pounds. My vet says she looks great, a little thin for a rott but that most rotts are allowed to get too fat. She has been eating canadae for about 3 weeks and was on purina one large breed before that. The question I have is she eats 6 cups a day in 2 15 minute meals and my vet said that seemed like way too much food but she looks great so keep doing what we are doing. Does this seem like too much food to any of you???

I'm just curious, but did the vet do a stool check?
I'm not familiar with the feeding requirements for the Canidae, so I'm sorry I can't help you out with your question. Are you following the feeding directions on the bag?

Seems like too much

Wow that is too much. I think 3 cups maybe 4 is max for Canidae. She may not have started gaining weight but if she keeps up 6 cups she will get too heavy. I too would have her stool checked for any type of parasites. Look on the Canidae bag to see the requirements for her weight and remember it's a high quality food and has NO fillers so you should feed less then some other kibbles. Let us know if her stool checks out o.k. :D.

I would definitely check the stool. Has your vet done any bloodwork on her at all? If the stool were totally clean I might tend to think Hyperthyroid as that tends to speed up the metabolism and cause a very thin dog. Just a thought....

Angel had realy bad flees when we got her and a few days later she was back to the vet for tape worms, they did stool samples when I found the tape worms and 2 follow up tests after treatment, that was about 4 months ago. I don't know if she has had any blood work but she was just spayed and goes tomorow to have her stiches removed and I'm going to take a stool and have them run some blood work. Are there any tests I should request by name
