Solid Gold

Hey.

I was wondering if anyone out there is using Solid Gold food and what there thoughts are on it.

I am feeding my 16 mo. old Rottie Solid Gold and he seems to be doing great on it. I also supliment with Missing Link Plus. My only problem is that since he has been on Solid Gold Hund N' Flocken he is exteremly sensitive to everything but Solid Gold. If he even gets a small chunk of another food, he is tossing his cookies. I have to treat him with Solid Gold treats, with is fine with me because they are so healthy.

I have heard mixed things about Solid Gold, while I did my research and stand behind the product...I am hearing alot about the BARF method and other foods.

Any input or feed back you could give me would be fab!

Thanks.

Solid Gold is a super-premium food.

It is a quality choice for your dog. You're feeding one of the best foods available. :)

yes solid gold is one of the best kibbles available, and since you mention BARF Imo is the best and most suitable for most dogs.

I've never used Solid Gold but I believe the basic formula was stolen from the original German Hund-n-Flocken dog food. The US creator also did Federal time for false advertising from what I've been told. All of which is one of the reasons I've never tried it. I wasn't real sure if the advertised ingredients would indeed be in the food or would live up to the claims in the ads.

I wonder how good it would be to feed Canidae, (or whatever food your dogs thrive on) and the BARF diet together? I was thinking it may be good to buy the food of your choice and then alternate between BARF and the food. I guess if the dog is doing well with that it could be a good thing? Do any of you do this?

I haven't really heard about Solid Gold. How does it compare to Canidae?

I know that the Hund-N-Flocken formula was developed in Germany in junction with the Solid Gold Company, I dont believe it was stolen, although I cant find any documentation to back that up.

I have also done through research on Sissy, and cant find anything that indicates that she did Federal time for False Advertising. If you have proof of that I would love to see it. But bad mouthing a company with out hard core proof is not something I like to do.

I just wanted to know what other people thought of the food. I know that it is a great super premium. I enjoy the fact that the food is basically preservative free and doesnt have any bad stuff in it. I just had my siberian husky pass away from cancer of the liver which is being attributed to the BHA and BHT that is in Eukanbua (sp). So I really want to feed a good food that is going to help my guys to live a healthy life.

Do you guys know about by-product in dog food? I have been doing more and more research on food, and am just curious as to what any of you have found in your research as to what is in by-product.

As far as how Canidea stacks up to Solid Gold, I am not familiar with Canidea, so I cant really say. I can tell you that Solid Gold is all natural and does not have any preservatives and once the sealed bag is opened, it only lasts about 3 months.

Thanks!
Beth

Maybe you'll have to ask German to research the false advertising / federal charges :). I have heard this from a very reputable source. I, personally, do not believe that Hund-n-Flocken cooperated with her creating her own brand of food with their formula. (I'm sure it is no longer the original formula by now.) Anyway, that's simply my opinion. Perhaps the German manufacturer could corroborate that. My dogs are on a raw diet; before that I used Canidae.
