picky eating

My 11 month old female has become a picky eater lately. She used to get up in the morning and gobble up all her breakfast but within the past couple of weeks she has changed. I was feeding her canidae however she is allergic (scratching and stuff) so I swithced to natures recipe venison and rice. This stuff gave her gas and loss stools. Did some research and switched to california natural lamb and rice. Keep in mind that all the adjustments were gradual and she was eating the venison without a problem for sometime as well as the canidae. Just lately even after a gradual switch to the lamb she is picky. She takes a kibble out of the bowl drops it on the floor then maybe eats it. After an hour or so she may finish the food. Also be known that for the longest time I have been adding shed-stop to her food with no problem with her eating. So I took her to the vet for this reason and that she is SHEDDING LIKE CRAZY. He took some blood and found nothing wrong. He did suggest I stop giving her vit-c each day as this may cause an upset stomach. He also gave me derm-caps to give her daily. Any suggestions?

I would suggest you stop "fussing" with her.:( Put out her a.m. feeding leave it down for 15 minutes if she does not eat pick the bowl up and put it away till supper time.:) No treats , no snacks, nothing till the next meal... you may have to do this for a few days, she will eventually lick the bowl clean. You are feeding a good food but, if she has allergy problems you may want to look into a homemade diet. Rottweilers do tend to shed alot... just brush her everyday. If you are giving vitamin C this best type is called "Ester C" it is buffered and does not cause stomach problems. If the dog has been given a clean bill of health by the vet she will not starve to death if she does not eat.

Good-luck,
Gina

My girl went the same way, bored with kibble, loose stools, I went on the BARF diet for her and she is doing great, no boredom, no loose stools. Check out time saving for Barf feeders on this page.
