Treats/# of feedings per day?

I was wondering what you folks give your young puppies for treats in between feedings? Also is three feedings a day enough for a 7 week old pup?
My breeder said to feed her at 8am 3pm and 8pm.
The food i'm feeding says to feed 1 1/2 cups per day for her age and weight. So I divide it up into 1/2 cup portions (its ground canidae and nutro natural) Then I add two tablespoons of canned canidae, and add water to make it mushy. She gets so excited at feeding times and she eats like theres no tomorrow. She licks the bowl clean and looks for more.
So how often do you folks feed young puppies, and what kind of treats can I give her in between?

My rotty Madison eats 2 x a day 6:00am and 5:30pm per my vets recommendation. She eats Sceince Diet for large breeds and gets their treats as well.

I treat 2 x a day for correct actions. They usually involve her behavior in her crate. And when I train I use liver pieces. I use only 1 which I allow her to lick during training sessions and reward her with the entire piece at the end of the session. (The pieces of liver I use are sticktly made for training dogs and they are very small.)

myrottie_chyna:

Feeding Chyna three times a day is very good, and it seems as though you got the right food too! (I swear by Canidae!) The fact that she wants more does not mean she's starving, so don't worry about that! :)

We have Nutro treats that we give our boys between feedings. But only for "special" occasions. For example, we put them in their kongs before leaving for work, they get one when my sister-in-law leaves in the afternoon (she's our "dog-sitter :D ) and then they get one (or a few!) when we get home after work. Just use your best judgement!

3 times per day is right for a pup that age. I can't remember what age Sasha was when I switched to 2 a day feedings.
