| Lilly Stinks!!! My sister has a purebred pitbull pup named Lilly. She is about 5 1/2 months old. She spends days outside on a covered porch, and indoors at night. She bathes her once a week, but by the next day she stinks again. She is feeding her western family dog food because right now she can't afford paying more. She does however make her some homemade food from leftover meat, and other good stuff. Well they stayed over this weekend and after petting her a few minutes, I was running to the bathroom to wash my hands. The dog smell was really strong. Could the food she feeds her be the culprit, or can it be genetic? |

| Yes the food. The fact she's outside all day. There's probably more going on too.

| Yes, it could be the food. See if you can talk her into a better brand of food. Also the fact that the dog is getting bathed every week, is taking all of the oils out of her fur and skin and making her stink too. A healthy dog eating a good diet does not need to be bathed more then 2-3 times per year. Gina

| When I first got my rescue she smelled awful, bathing her did not help. I realized it was the food, because I put her on a premium dog food and within a couple of weeks there was no odor. She is now on a Barf diet and I love to sniff my dog. I do bath her monthly except in the winter I just wipe her down with baby wipes. |

| I think the outside part is a big part of her smell too. Daisy is an indoor dog, but after a 30 minute romp outside, she smells terrible. It usually goes away shortly after returning inside, but peeeee-yeeewwww!

| I've never heard of Western Family Dog and I don't know how much it costs, but she might be able to get rmb's for much less. I searced in my area and found two good suppliers of chicken rmb's. The one has chicken backs for 15 cents a pound. That works out to $6 for a forty pound case. The other has chicken carcasses fresh or frozen for only 33 cents a pound. A five and half old pit bull pup could easily ( and probably happily ) eat chicken backs. Tell her to look in the phone book under poultry and start calling around if she is interested.:) It might save money, help with the stink, and be healthier then cheap kibble.;) |

| I have heard of Western Family. It is a very inferior type of food sold under grocery store names. Most probably the source of the STANK. You might check her ears for infection. That can be a very nasty odor! I would also walk around and check the yard for anything disgusting that she might be rolling in. My Breezy's favorite thing to roll in seems to be cat feces! BLECHCHCHCH!!!!! Thank GOODNESS we don't have a problem with stray cats anymore!
