Nutro

I started much the same way. The first vet I took wanda to - changed vets since - told me to feed her Science Diet. She hated it. So after the first bag I wanted to try something different. I fed her Nutro for about a month, which was better. But nothing like Canidae. She likes it better than anything else. She still doesn't wolf it down, but the ingredients were what sold me on it. That and the fact that it's easy to buy here. Nutro is a pretty good food if you want to feed them that. A hell of a lot better than Science Diet.

The Nutro Natural Choice is a better food then the Max. The Max seems to have more grains and fillers.
If you cannot get Canidae in your State can you get Innova?
Their website is www.naturapet.com they have a store locator on their site. This is a great food also see if you can get Wellness, or Solid Gold, or Wysong. There are so many choices:)

The Nutro Natural Choice is a step up from Science Diet and many dogs do well on it, but if those other foods are available give them a try:)

Nutro Natural Choice is a is a very good feed, I would rate it from A-F a B. My dogs do very well on it and love the taste.

I agree that Nutro Natural Choice is better than the Max formulation. Nutro is an acceptable dog food, but it does not compare to other super premium brands like: Canidae, Solid Gold, Wysong, Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Abady, River Flint Ranch, Health Wise, Best of Breed, Sensible Choice, Precise, etc.

I second all teh replies. Nutro natural choice is better than max and is available just about anywhere, but if you want to try the cream of the crop in the commercial dog foods try one of the once metnioned by GV.

nutro

Thanks for all the replies. I live in Utah. That should explain why I don't have many choices other than petsmart, petco, local feed store, but I will keep looking. Also tried nuto natural first then thought I'd try nutro max.

Shawn's Rotts,
We live in VT so I know how hard it can be to find kibble locally. I'll bet if you ask your local feed store to get a certain kind they will try. I got my local Agway to stock Wellness just by asking. Have them start with an order for you with an extra bag to sell in the store. That way they may be able to expand their customer base. I'm sure there are other people around you that want a premium food, but are reluctant to ask.
If all else fails locally, try the web. Only disadvantage is the shipping cost.

A group of us were able to convince our DVM's to carry Innova / California Natural. Our dogs and cats look great, and the clinic sells quite a bit of the product.
