Goodbye Eukanuba.. Hello Purina? Hi guys, I need your input on this. A friend of mine just got a rott puppy. According to her vet the dog is growing to fast. The vet suggested that they put the puppy on purina dog food instead. After reading all of the posts in this forum I've switched my two dogs from Eukanuba to Flint River Ranch (big smile!). I thought Eukanuba was a premium food because that is what my vet told me (not so big smile). Thank you for setting me straight on that:) I'm going to print off all of your replies and give them to her so she has another type of food to consider. From what I've heard out here Purina is kind of like feeding your puppy fast food everyday, is this true? What can she feed this puppy that is high quality and will not cause him to grow at a rapid speed? I don't think she wants to do B.A.R.F. Thanks for your input in advance. Michelle;)

My best advice is to have your friend use the better foods listed in this forum... Innova Canidae Solid Gold Healthwise California Natural etc... I've learned through this forum most vets either know nothing of nutrition or are making money off pushing certain brands of food. Your friend might also want to question the vets' claim the dog is "growing too fast". Get a quality food. Get a second opinion. :)

MybabyZeus: If the vet thinks your friend's dog is "growing too fast" why not cut back on the amount of food Puppy is being fed? My advice would be to feed a reasonable amount of food for the puppy's activity level--not to switch from one crumby food to another. Suggest to your friend that she read thru the postings in this section--she'll learn all she needs to know to make an informed decision as to what's the best food for her puppy.

AngelBunny, As usual you are right. I have suggested this forum to her a couple of times but she has not really said one way or the other if she is interested. Obviously she doesn't have Rott Fever Yet:) But she is getting there. I did print most of the threads and gave them to her to read. My hope is she will take them into consideration. Thank you, Michelle
