Title Legitimacy?

Just a question to the experienced board members. I have a pup who's sire had his VDH champion papers emailed to me and are posted on his website. At first I thought, "ok this looks legit" and I didnt think anything of it.

Then I went on the ADRK website and started looking at the results. Nowhere in the results from the past 5 years was his name on ANY list.

Think his title was a forgery? How common is this? My SCH club pres told me that people buy titles in the bar over in Europe and laugh at us when we buy their garbage dogs with false titles.

BTW-The dogs name is Iwan VD Holzhaussiedlung. Anyone heard of him?

Also-"Nepumuk" from the same kennel just won the last Koerung.

Re: Title Legitimacy?

What titles are you questioning - working?

P.S. I don't think Nepumuk 'won' the Korung (it's not a competition), but he did pass it.

VDH Champion at Dortmond. He is also supposed to be IPO111 and I can find any record of any trial where he achieved this title.

BTW-Breeder wont return my calls.

Re: Title Legitimacy?

The Kor book of 2007 lists Ivan as a VDH Champion. This would be enough evidence to give me peace of mind.

Re: Title Legitimacy?

IWAN not Ivan. He was imported to the US in the early spring of 07. I also have not been able to find his records in the EU working dog database

Their records would indicate when and where he would have obtained his titles (both show and working) and the dog doesn't even show up on a search of over 60 thousand dogs! I know he exhists but the legitimacy of his credentials was my concern.

I always have to question the motives as to why a German breeder would unload a 4 year old Champion stud dog no matter what the price. If in fact the dog is completely legit.

Re: Title Legitimacy?

Last night at the Phoenix Rottweiler Club we were just discussing this very topic. The word is, you can get a title over a beer so watch out. ZTPs are usually not given out so easily.

If you're looking to import a dog many people go there, look at/work the parents and pick out a pup to bring home.

Re: Title Legitimacy?

That's exactly what I was talking about Jazzking. There's something so disturbing about buying a working title over a beer

If I ever buy a dog from Europe, I'll definately be watching him work before I put down a dime. Not to mention DNA confirmation on the dog.

BTW-Iwan is supposed to be in Arizona. Do you know if he has produced any litters around your parts?

I haven't heard anything about him. I know he's not a dog in our club and we're the only working Rott Club in Phoenix - possibly all of AZ.

I'll keep my ears open. Firehaus may know and I'll ask him this weekend as he's fending off my dog
