Re: My experience in transporting Rotts Internationally

Good evening,

If I may point out to you some items. You have to make sure that the passport of your dog(s) is OK and that all the paperwork is furfilled. For some countries also Rabies vaccinations and testing being done long time up front.
Make sure, if possible, that you fly with first class companies.
That you try to flight directly to your destination. No stops etc. If you do, make sure for a transfer that the time between landing, transferring and take off is at least 4 hours. otherwise it will not work out and you get stuck and have the chance that you have to get an other flight.
make sure that your crate has the correct size and that all paperwork is done correctly.
Believe me, if not, customs can be very very difficult and even confiscate dogs/animals or put them into a special kennel for quite a while.
If you travel by yourself, it is possible to take the dog with you and have it charged as overweight. That is a bit cheaper than having it transferred by itself as it will be treated as cargo and you will have to pay square feet or meters. .
Make sure in Europe, that you are at least 3 till 4 hours in advance at the airport when you travel with animals. Security checks are done often and they do take a very long time.
If you have the chance, ask a specialised agent to fill out all your paperwork and inform you upfront with all details.
You can also check the websites of the country you are intending to visit and check the webiste of the ministry of Food and animals etc.
All this can avoid a lot of anger, frustration and costs.

Sincerely,
Kiene Zandbergen
