| Hello hopefully you guys and gals can help me with a problem I am having. I was in contact with a breeder that gave me the name of a lady that is being forced to adopt out two rottie pups that she bought. She bought the pups and then her job "relocated" her to Africa. She told me that all their food has to be imported and there is no adequate vet facilities. I am very sketchy on have them shipped from Africa, with all of the scams around there I don't know what to do. They are coming with papers, usda papers, certified health certificate, and its pedigree. She is asking for a moneygram which sent up a red flag. But after doing research I found that no escrow service will do business with Africa. Is there a way to send a moneygram that she can't pick up till I clear the pups? Any suggestions will be great. | Re: buying out of county?? THIS IS A SCAM! This has been going on and on and on. This scam has been going on for several years now, we get them all of the time through our email. Everything she has stated is a crock. That whole area is a HOTBED of thievary. Do yorself a favor and do an internet search on dog scams, go to Google and type in puppy scams africa and enjoy 100s of stories. Bob- |

| Re: buying out of county?? Yes, this is a scam. Do not send any money to Africa. I noticed that you are from the Michigan area. The Rottweiler Rescue of Michigan has a ton of beautiful rotties waiting for forever homes, and quite a few appear to be purebred. There is one big boy who has stolen my heart but unfortunately, I am not ready to adopt a dog due to career reasons and I don't think the Michigan Rottie Rescue will adopt out of country (to Canada). Even though it's only 45 min. away where I live and I have no problems paying their border toll to cross the border. You may want to check that out instead. I'm pretty sure they are located in Lansing. |

Yep, scam alert! They are doing this with Parrots as well. Somone I know just lost out on $200 because the owners job was relocating them to AFRICA and all he wanted was what it would cost to ship. He gave her everything she needed...name, address, phone number...vet papers..everything..all checked out perfectly...and in return, nothing. His number was changed, address was never really his, just someone that was in on the scam..the one that the money order was sent to...all of this..happened here in the US..in Florida I believe. Its sad, really.

| Re: buying out of county?? Yikes, I'd take the advice given here and run, run, run from this obvious scam. Anytime someone asks for money upfront like that, that always sends up red flags and this one is full of them. If you want to help a rottie I would suggest either going to a reputable breeder or visiting online local shelters/rescue organizations for any available rottweilers. The other thing you have to keep in mind is that by being able to visit the dog/puppy prior to taking them home, will also help you to get a feel for the animal, talk with the staff and see if it's a good fit for the both of you. There are so many rots out there that need a loving home and they are right there in your neighbourhood. |

| Re: buying out of county?? Thanks for the advice everyone. Funny thing, when I told her I wanted proof of ownership and I would not send a money gram I didn't hear from her again. I have been looking at the shelters around my area and i think I found a girl that will be good for my Tonka. I really wanted a puppy because I have small children and we got a current rott at 8 weeks. He is like a babysitter. But I think that a shelter rott would be just as greatfull and hopefully can be just like Tonka. Thanks again |
