Importing Dogs from the US

Since there has been some discussion of American bloodlines in Asia and since most of the imports there are from the US, just some thoughs on "buyer beware" . . .

Unfortunately, there are more than a few of what I call "high class puppy mills" here. They do title dogs in conformation and obedience but, in my opinion, breed (1) too many litters a year; (2) breed their stud dog/s too often &/or indiscriminately. It is not easy if you live overseas to know the story behind the titles. After all, that's often the case even if you live here. I have had 2 litters out of an American Rottweiler Club Gold Sire that have had numerous health, conformation and temperament problems. However, if you look at the "titles" only you would never guess this and would think that offspring of this dog would be great prospects. There is a whole lot more I could go into here but will not since I cannot use specific dogs' names or kennel names. But, please do your homework as thoroughly as you possibly can. Way too many of you are getting ripped off. You need to try to develop as wide a circle of Rottweiler people as possible in order to find out as much information as possible. Titles alone don't tell the story - what about littermates, how many litters sired or whelped compared to titles earned, etc., etc. (And while we're at it, I currently do not own a brood bitch or a stud dog; therefore I am not planning to have a litter for several years and do not have anything to sell.)

How true, Nancy. The mentality seems to be "oh, well we'll never see the dog again, and the money is what counts". What a shame and disservice to our breed.

NANCY,
Exactly!!
I bought one from an American breeder with a serious overbite!Sold as a show pup..it will correct is all i heard?!Then when you call they say... i know my lines they always correct?!
My point is i'm American if its done in house so to speak, then to ship away from here.. it would be even easier!Buyer beware!
Do your homework...and spend the extra and go see the litter!I'm no-rookie either! I asked all the right questions..over an over was still sent this pup!Now if i was gonna buy a pup from even Germany ,i would fly over cause over the lifespan of the dog it really is cheaper.
