| growth left? how much growing is done between 8 mos. and full maturity...? taking genetics and all other factors into consideration...is there a general growth consistency? what percentage of weight growth is done after 8 mos....i.e. a 23" 80 lb 8 mos old male would generally gain xyz lbs, and this much taller... my dog still has knots on his knees and one on the back of his head which indicates that he will probably get taller...but I want him to stay close to where he is sizewize |

| My furgrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl, Daisy, grew about 3" in height and put on 25 pounds between 8 months and almost 14 months. She is now 25" tall and weighs 84#. At 8 months we were calling her our "pocket Rottie" because she was petit. Now she is our "pocket pony"...a big girl. I have not altered the amount that she eats, which is 2 cups kibble for breakfast and 2 cups for supper with some raw carrot and yogurt. I have heard that they will grow slowly until about 18 months. ;)

| Bear1906, I'm really glad you asked this question. I have been wondering the same thing about Schatz. She is 7 1/2 mo old is 22" and weighs 64lb. I haven't noticed any change since last month and my husband is complaining she is to small.. I don't mind having a mini-rott. I did tell him she was still growing, but that I thought she was close to her final size. Thanks livertw, Now I know that I can tell him she may grow 3 more inches and be big enough to push him out of bed.

| as I cycled through the archives, I found other posts that closely resemble this one....I guess people all have similar questions at various life stages of the dog... My only hope is that my dog is a early bloomer...he has always been bigger than his peers, but has never really looked goofy, he looks like a miniature version of a full grown rottie...very heavy boned the thing is, despite a carefully monitored diet, he manages to pick up weight... he is now over 105 lbs and I can still see the last rib and feel the rest and he can outrun any dogs he plays with...he is 25" (which isn't that bad)...However, aside from a litttle legginess, he looks like a full grown dog with a deep chest cavity & all...I just don't want him to have a heart attack or something... |
