What should a nine week old male Rottie weigh?

I got a puppy from a friend who bought a Rottie pup, she bought him two weeks ago from a BYB, now she decided she doesn't have time for him so I took him. I know that BYB's are a bad place to buy a pup, but I've got him now and I'm going to take good care of him. Took him to the vet's yesterday and he weighed nine lbs---doesn't that seem awfully small for a male Rottie? Other wise he is pretty healthy.

I'm no expert but I can tell you that Gryphon weighed 11 lbs. at 8 weeks old when we got him.

Now at 3 years old he's 26" tall and 130 lbs.

That does seem a little small for a male pup... my pup (rottzilla) was 19lbs at nine weeks... he did grow to be very big though.
Since he is from a BYB he should be checked for worms and put on a really good food and given a check-up by the vets.
Good luck!:)

I did take him to the vet, he did have some worms and he got worm medicine, the Vet also put him on liquid vitamins. Otherwise he seems to be very healthy.

I have 2 females. One at 9 weeks was 16 pounds, and one at 8 weeks was 17 pounds. My sister is law just got a 7 week old this weekend, and she weighs 10 pounds.

I don't think the big picture here should be a "male Rottweiler puppy." Whether it be male or female, your pups weight/size will be dictated by genetics, and genetics only (unless you over/under feed and not give proper medical care).

IF he is in good condition, and the Vet feel's he is healthy, then run with it! Take good care of him and give him proper nutrition/medical care. He should be fine.

Ozzie weighed 8 pounds at 8 weeks when I picked him up. He's now three years old and 140pounds (minimal fat), and in very good health.
