Exclamation Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

I dont know if its because of summer comming up but if I dont brush her everyday I have to use the vaccuum cleaner on my floor. My girl has a little bit longer than usal hair but I was wondering if she could be sick ?

You can see on this pictures : http://www.rottweiler.net/gallery/sh...mageuser=30172 on her back it look like puppy fluffy hair but she is 1yo and 3 months now so its not puppy hair anymore. And if you click on my other pictures, you will see on her rear legs how long his her hair.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

You're not alone. I have black hair covering the house. For me it could be that I am a lazy when it comes to brushing. When we do brush, it seems that even more hair is falling out the rest of the day. Rotties are notoriously deceptive shedders.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

thx for your fast replies :)

So you know what those black masses of hair look like along the walls...

yay! my dog is not sick

BTW: ive done a lot of reading before buying my rottweiler and I knew they required regular brushing to keep them clean and shinny but I think the reality is that they lose BAD AMOUNT of hair whatever you do...

Thx again !

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

Living in Tucson we get warmer sooner in the year. A month or two ago the floors were covered in hair. They just shed a lot more during this time of year. Now that it has warmed up there is still some hair, but no where near as much. Keep brushing and vacuuming and it should let up soon.

With two dogs (one rottweiler and one rottweiler/black and tan coonhound mix) we have hair EVERYWHERE!! I'm brushing every other day and vaccuuming and cleaning - getting up excess hair. With mine, it's just that time of the year.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

I think so far the best desription given for the situation was that they are deceptive shedders because this is one thing i didnt realize, I'd vaccum 3-4 times a week and i'd still see my floor covered in black. but now that we've progressed into the summer more its slowed down and my guy's coat looks really shinney.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

I have a long haired boy, one girl with a really short coat, and another boy with probably a more correct coat....and yup, I noticed EVERYBODY is really shedding right now. Even the girl with the short coat...I can run a brush through her and only get a bit of undercoat, but when I take my fingers and sort of "grab" a handful, I come away with a bunch of guard hairs as well. One of the happiest days of my life was when I pulled up the beige wall to wall I had throughout the entire house...beige carpeting and rotti's just don't go well together.
I should take a picture of some of the hair that comes off my long haired boy...I can literally fill a plastic grocery bag with it everytime I brush. The undercoat is unbelieveable!! As much as I ADORE him, I'd think long and hard before getting another long haired rotti.
It seems to me like there are two periods a year where the shedding is unbelieveable...I assume when they're shedding out their winter coats and again when they're dropping their summer coats. Between those two times it's more manageable.

I sweep every day and we vacuum almost every day! I try to brush Eragon daily but we still have the shedding. Oh well, thank goodness for my Dyson!

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

I had my baby put to sleep a week ago, but I still find her hair in my lunch, my makeup, in the laundry, on hubby's face... it's a nice reminder....

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

That would be putting it mildly. I vacuum every other day (carpet & hardwoods) and sweep the hardwoods the days in between. I wake up with hair attached to my eyelids and up my nose. When we drive in the car it's like we are in a vortex wind tunnel with hair swirling around us. All this even with brushing almost everyday. LOL By now I think I could have built another full size rotte.
