Yep!

We tease that they've shed so much they should be bald by now. Then I look at the GSD's in our club who are blowing their coat & I don't feel so bad.

I agree. GSD's are WAY worse....I remember taking an obedience class where we were sitting next to a woman with a gsd....there was literally a ring of hair on the floor around where the dog was sitting.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

I guess I'm just lucky. Harley does shed, but it's not bad. I've always had cats, so maybe their hair, which floats through the air and sticks to everything, makes his hair seem better. Harley's hair falls to the ground and stays their until I sweep it up. The cat hair becomes air born the second I start sweeping and is a pain if the butt to clean up. I even shaved the heaviest shedder this year and there is still ball of cat hair in every corner, plus the ceiling fans, the furniture, my clothes and it's regularly clogs the AC filters. (I swept yesterday, btw.)

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

We just had to change our air conditioner filter after about 3 weeks because it got clogged with dog hair.

We also have a husky so it gets pretty crazy.

Furminating helps.

This is why I only bake brownies for friends now. A sugar cookie might give away our little hairy secret!

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

Once you get used to it it's no big deal. I have just faced the fact that if you own a rottie you will have black tumbleweeds and porcupine rottie hairs everywhere. They sometimes stick in bottom of my feet through my socks. Whenever I feel the pain in my foot and remove my socks I always find a little black needle stuck in:) I now vacuum once a week and know that It is part of the experience. I wouldn't change a thing. In this day and age if you can smile after a hard day's work, you are on to something. And my girl keeps me smiling with her antics and personality. Bring on the hair I love it;)

Oh that is hilarious! This is one of my biggest fears when I have to take food somewhere. We have 4 dogs, and I vacuum every day. One is part Chow, so she is really shedding right now.

If I miss a day of vacuuming, it looks like tumbleweed blowing across the floor. My Italian Greyhound probably wishes we could find a way to attach some of the hair to her as she is always cold. It is 100 degrees here today, and she just wants to stay outside and lay in the sun.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

In a word? No. I get a "big shedding" time 2x/year and that's it. Shedding is minimal in between. The fosters coming in have shed a bit, but once they're on a great diet for about a week it stops. Or perahps they were shedding due to stress rather than diet.

I use a shedding blade on the fosters when they come and on my dogs during their molting season. Otherwise I Brush about once or twice a month... And they fall over each other getting their turn!

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

I'm going to give it a try. Just bought one on Ebay for $21. Maybe there will be something baking in my house besides brownies in a few days.

I'm so sorry about your baby.

I'm so glad to hear that it's not just my girl... she's driving me crazy. I have dog hair every where and she's very correct. Her coat is just as long and thick as it's supposed to be. I thought a rottie's coat would be easy to deal with.

I swear there is less hair on a barber shop floor. The girls aren't so bad, but the long haired boy it just pops out in tufts. Get it about twice a year as someone else said.

Re: Is your rott filling your house with hair ?

Ha, ha (evil chuckle).........

I have a coated GSD who does not have an undercoat. She does not shed. If I run a brush over her, I might get some hair, but not much. She has a glorious, gorgeous, shiny, full coat. And my floors are spotless.

It may be a breed fault...but if so, that's fine by me!
