The best thing you can do is to take your pup to age appropriate training, and keep going.
Along with obedience teach cute tricks like shake, roll over, wave, spin, balance the ball on your snout, crawl, roll (rolling a ball along the ground with your nose) walk backwards, etc.
Make her a model dog so that everyone who meets her will love her.
Inevitably after meeting her and having fun with her, people will ask what breed she is. Smile a big smile and say she's half pitbull half rottweiler.
I do have to wonder about the idiots that bred their dog, the chances that their pit went in heat and the first and only dog that got to her was a rott? Perhaps they were going to make a fortune on designer dogs? A pitweiller? And nobody wanted one?
At our shelter about a month ago two litters of pups were dropped off, one border collie/aussie pups and one havanese/shitzu. Do you call those a haveashit? I am almost sure someone thought they were having designer dogs and when they could not sell them in the paper they just dumped them at the shelter. Well one of the litters brought in distemper, and our shelter was closed for adoptions for three weeks because of it.
I get so damned mad at people I just wanna scream.
I am glad your Mae found a great home and thank you for finding great homes for the others too. Please pass along all advice you get here to the other proud new parents.

"That's OK. We'll be busy training her for agility (obedience, rally-o, carting, etc.) We won't have as much time for company anymore."

"Well, you think about it, then. We'll invite you next year for Mae's birthday get together, just in case you change your mind."

"Oh my! <cover the dog's ears> Mae, darlin', did you hear that? Maligned before you've had a chance, you poor thing."

"Yeah, right! She's a teddy bear in a Rott'n-bull suit, eh? Tell me now, wasn't your great-great-great uncle hanged for horse theiving? That's guilt by association too. You plannin' on thievin' some horses, Bub?"

Or, last but nor least... "Yeah? Send pictures, then. So I don't forget what you look like."

Have fun! This girls is an athlete. Best get her a cart and a harness and let her pull a kid or two down the street.

lol I love all of them! Wish I was so creative!! Thanks a million. Now I know just what to say.

Oh! This brings back memories! Sable's first puppy class. We too, had a tailess breed, a rescue Cocker Spaniel.

So having only ever lived with other Rottweilers, then the Cocker, Sable got wide eyed when she spied the plume tail of a Golden pup (a friend) next to us.

She looked at the tail..then us..back and forth it went. Then pup was laid down, and began wagging. She pounced like a cat! Over and over! The whole class was in hysterics. The Golden took it all in good fun.

Sorry... ahem... back to the Rott'n-Pitty. I did some word of mouth research about our end of town and found a couple of them. They are lovely in both appearance and demeanor, and naturally, responsible caring owners.

One, BTW, was Rottie (M) colored, and the other a brindle (F), a neutered brother and sister pair. The couple walk by my house every day from about a mile down the street. H'cum I never noticed before? Dunno.

Re: Rottweiler/Pitbull mix

Okay, so this one isn't nearly as funny as the others. And it might get you in a big fight. And you might lose your (human) friend. And I'm really (REALLY) not making light of a bigger social issue. But this whole thread has it's roots in ignorance (not yours, obviously). So......

"I didn't realize you had such a problem with the color of my dogs fur. I wonder if that judgement extends to skin color."

Re: Rottweiler/Pitbull mix

I have several pit bulls and a Rottie and my best way of dealing with discrimination is to bring my well mannered, friendly dogs with me everywhere. People are usually impressed with how nice my dogs are and some don't even realize what breeds they are until I tell them. If someone proceeds to tell me how bad these dogs are, my usual reply is "Oh? That's odd. All the ones I know are really nice dogs!"

Re: Rottweiler/Pitbull mix

Well aren't you the lucky one. You found out early on that you have morons for friends. Better they choose to leave than you have to throw them out. It is much better to choose intelligent, loyal friends. Yeah for you choosing Mae. You will be much better off in the long run.

I agree, this might be the best response line ever. Is there some sort of RDN award of merit we can give for gems like this???

If there is anything more sad or dangerous than ignorance itself, it not knowing the difference between ignorance and knowledge and never learning how to tell them apart.

Re: Rottweiler/Pitbull mix

You found homes for all of those puppies? I think that is wonderful. That is an interesting breed combo, I never wanted a mix breed just because I would be afraid of the temperment, but you still did a good deed.
