| Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!! I can only imagine your grief, hurt and anger. I hope that you get some resolution from this airline. Compassion certainly is not one of their strong points and I agree that the press would be the best to contact regarding this negligence. Our animals are living beings and not just a piece of replacable luggage. |

| Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!! Sorry for your loss. My son is in the AF and is scheduled to be transfered from Hawaii. His Rottie was transported last night from Honolulu to LAX. Because of the high temperatures here in Virginia, Mecca had to have a 16 hour layover. We arranged to have Pacific Pet service pick her up and transport her to Kennel Club LAX. The Kennel call me this morning and said she did fine. She is scheduled to fly out tonight at 10pm. I'm still real concerned, if anything happens to Mecca my son would be heart broken. Keeping my fingers crossed, I pick her up at Dulles tomorrow at 6am. This is my first post, this is a great forum. |

| Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!! Sorry I have not posted in while. I have been busy getting situated in our house as well in-processing here in my new duty station. A brief update on the latest happenings, I went to the military attorney's and told them that I have not been contacted from the customer care represenitives since the flight on 30 May. They instructed me to e-mail them and request a claims packet since I did pay a extra baggage fee and they need to treat as lost luggage. I still to this day have not received a response. So this upcoming week I am going back to our legal office and they will write a letter on my behalf requesting the same thing. If still no response, then I will have to find a civilian attorney and will make a lawsuit. The only issue that I'm have problems with is coming up with an amount to request for this. Initially I wanted to have them repay for the cost of him as well as travel (1st class) back to Germany for my wife, son and I to get another pup, hotel costs and transportation cost. That was it, but now I am getting outrage with not receiving a response from them in this matter so am wanting a larger sum for pain and suffering. Crazy, our son still can see any other Rotty pic and says, "Look Daddy, Look, Wotan. It's Wotan daddy!" All I can say is yea, JR it's Wotan and keep going on with what we were doing. Well, that's all as of yet. I will keep the updates coming. |

| Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!! How do you put a price an what you have lost?? You can't. Your boy was a member of the family and no amount of money can ever bring him back or alleviate your heartbreak over what has happened. I am not a sue happy person, in fact I have never been in a situation to entertain the idea, and I feel far too many people abuse it. In this case however I think the only thing these large companies understand is money. They obviously have no remorse over what you and your family are going through, nor did your poor Wotan's well being concern them. Go for as much as is possible. Hit them where it hurts. I realize it won't bring your dear boy back, but it may prevent this from happening to anyone elses beloved pet. Set an example that this was totally preventable and maybe it will make them stand up and take notice. Good luck. You and your family are in my thoughts. Keep us posted. |

If you can find any receipts for dog food, leashes, collars, training classes, vet bills- anything and everything that you have paid towards your dog- find it or some how verify that you have paid it- cancelled checks, credit card statements, the like. Include the cost of purchase too. Add it all up and you will be amazed at how much it comes too. That is what you can use as the basis for what you ask for in your lawsuit. I seriously don't think you can get pain and suffering. I know what you mean about getting the run around and it makes you angry. Unfortuantely the big companies know that eventually you will just go away if they ignore you long enough. The only way they will pay attention is if you sue. If you have the ability to do so, great. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am sorry that the airline is being difficult and increasing your pain. I do hope that it works out in the end.
