Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

I am so very, very sorry for your loss of Wotan.
How tragic for this to happen to your family.
I'm with you, I would be head hunting for sure.
Wotan was most likely overheated and dehydrated.
RIP Wotan, fly high with the angels. You are in very good company.

Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

I live in Atlanta and I suggest if Hartsfield Int. Airport and the airline do not want to help or compensate you for this tragedy you might want to contact the local news agency here..wsbtv...they are known for uncovering and exposing things of this nature. I am really sorry you are going through this, especially because of a military move. Please keep us posted on how things turn out.

Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

I am so sorry, I am totally shocked as I am sure you were too. What a HORRIBLE thing to happen!!! He was so young too. So we can't even say his heart. This infuriates me as well. These airlines have such little regard for animals in their care and this is something that should have never happened!!!! It could have been avoided!!! I don't know legally what you could do, as you know animals are only worth what we paid for them. Thats something else that needs to be straightened out!!! I hope there is something you could do and keep us posted, as this won't happen again to another dog. Again my condolences to you and your family. Fly with the angels dear boy! Debbie

I'm so sorry for your loss. Not only have you had to deal with his passing, but now you have to deal with finding out why it happened, how sad. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

RIP sweet Wotan.

Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

I will definetly find out who's to blame. Weather it's the airport or the airlines. To me this is something that could have been avoided! I feel that it's on me to let the world know that there needs to be a better procedure in place of transporting animals from the aircraft to their owners. It's not just dogs, all animals! That might be an option as you stated trish603a to get the news involved. I don't want millions of dollars because of his death, but some form of compensation to cover the cost of me getting another pup and some gesture of sympathy. I have recieved nothing but silence from either the airport or airline. To me being in the service is a "NO GO"! The station manager at the airport gave me his card and said that if I needed anything let him know. I contacted him this morning and he doesn't want to discuss anything with me other than to say he's refering me to the customer care center and that I will hear something from them today. It's currently 1700 EST and guess what, still nothing.... Thank you all again for your prayers and sympathy during this lose!!

Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

If you don't hear anything soon, I'd look into that suggestion of contacting that Atlanta TV station. This is something they might be interested in. And, the fact that it involves travel due to military service makes for a more compelling story than it already is.

Looks like the high was in the mid 80's that day, humidity in the 20s or so. A lot of airlines won't fly a dog when the temp at any point en route or in the departure or arrival city is over 80 degrees, or they just don't allow dogs as cargo from mid May to mid September. This sad story points out why, if heat or dehydration was a factor.

I am horrified by your story. My heart goes out to you and your wife. I am so sorry. Rest assured that your baby boy is with all of our rotties who have died and gone to Heaven. He is in good company and running free. God bless.

Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

That's such an awful tragedy and the airlines/ airport SHOULD be held responsible. I think you should get the media involved, and get the word out there how the airlines/ airports are failing miserably in transporting our pet family members.

Re: This hurts, I'm pissed!!

I'm so sorry - that is just unacceptable.

I flew with a Dalmation several years ago and during our change in Houston the flight attedent wanted to know who owned the Dal, so my hand went up - but i feared what you have described. That was not the case thankfully. I hope you get all the answers possible.

Poor pup, never got the experience the US. :(
