| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? I think they do! My dad was just in FL for 4 months and my dog remembered him like he was just there yesterday! He even remembered my Dad was the one who played with her using his hands!!! (He has stopped because when she was only 2 mo's old she got him and he had a scrath w/ a little blood.) But she remembered him no problem! |

| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? I know my boy definately remembers people. My bf's cousin came and saw Janus when he was only 2 months old, then hadn't been over for a good 3 months. When Janus saw him he went completely buzzerk for him. He doesn't do this for anyone else but me (when I'm gone to get the mail across the street, taking about 2 minutes), not even for the bf when he's been gone to work all day. I am curious to see if he remembers his half brother. I'm not expecting him to since he left when Janus was only 5 or 6 weeks old. |

| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? Yes, it's funny how they remember time and sense things. Throughout the day I can come and go and Nikki barely pays me any mind. When it comes time to pick up the boys from the bus stop, however, she immediately runs for the door before I ever call her as she KNOWS it's time for her to go with us!

| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? I definitely think they remember people. The puppies I've raised respond to me differently (according to their owners) than they do other people. They wiggle, dance and act like fools...and plaster themselves onto me :). My dogs also remember "special" people in their lives...those I've trained with, my family, my close friends etc. This last weekend I got to see a pup that I haven't seen since he was about 11 weeks old...he turned 2 in March (he lives in New York, I live in Washington). His owner confirmed that he most definitely was different (more excited, more demonstrative...he wanted to kiss and jump all over me) with me than he has been with anyone else he's met .

| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? They do remember people. After we adopted Fozzy a year and a half went by and then she saw her first "daddy". You would have thought Fozzy's butt was going to fall off the way she wagged it so hard and so fast. |

| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? Oh yeah dogs remember people for a long time. I was worried that my Maggie, who was just a mix, was so mellow that she would do nothing if someone she didn't know entered the house when I was not there. So one day I had a buddy coming over to help me cut down some palm trees, and I pretended to leave, left the doors unlocked and had him ring the bell, rattle the doors and then go in. Well when he rattle the doors I did hear her bark, but when he went in nothing...I figured she was on her back getting petted when all of a sudden the most vicious snarling and growling I had ever heard, I went in and she was stiff as a board, all her hair on end, lips curled back to her ears looking like she wanted to kill, but she didn't move towards him. Had my buddy go out, calmed her down told her what a good dog she was and stuff, I was kind of impressed. About 3 years later he came over again to help me with some stuff and after she smelled him all the hair went up again and snarling like crazy, she remembered and anytime she saw him that day she would start to growl. In hindsight probably not the brightest thing to do but I know dogs remember and remember for a long time. |

| Re: do dogs still remember people after months?? Yeap, they sure do recall voices very easy, maybe not as much with appearances...but voices yes. My son was gone for 18 months and returned home with the twin boys and Bear went crazy. Bear was their rottie for the first two years of his life. They went back to school and with new babies, new apt, well we took him since our Rottie Rufus had passed. So yes he will recall, I had a blind rottie the last two years of her life and she could tell family members, I do believe by the foot steps. Good luck |
