Whip worms, diarrhea, yard clean up

Well fostering has its rewards right? Wouldn't trade it for the world but am in need of advice. My latest has whipworms that have given her quite the case of diarrhea. I am cleaning up as much of the poop as I can grab, but some of it has been pure water. Any tips on prevention in those areas and the last bits that won't come up?

Poor baby . I'm glad you have her now. I have heard that some people use watered down bleach and just dump it on the diarrhea; I have heard laundry soap works too.

Thanks, since I have my own Rottie, cat, two small kids, and want to continue to foster for a long time into the future, its imperative I do it right! I appreciate the suggestions.

I've had this problem before. Oh, the joys of fostering.

Until I get the all-clear from the vet, I try to make sure that any foster potties in a separate area of the yard (for me, that means going out, on leash, at the small side section of the house). Just to keep any exposure to a minimum.

I also just dump diluted bleach on any potty spots. It makes for icky grass spots, but I am paranoid about clean-up.

I will be doing quite a bit of clean up. The diarrhea in the middle of the night the first two nights will be tought to clean up.

Having a separate gravel area for the foster to potty would be better too. Bleach won't harm the gravel, and so will be easier to keep sanitary.

A Shovel, a Hoe and a water Hose. Use the Hoe to move the diarreha onto the shovel. Dispose of the waste and then water the area with full force. Might want to hit the hoe and shovel with the hose as well. Then you may want to spread a light coat of hydrated lime down to kill the smell....I spread lime about once every two weeks in my Zekes pottie area.

Has anyone tried Diamataceous Earth? Is is supposed to be a natural way to kill parasites in the ground.
