Finding a Rott Friendly Residence...

Ok... There have been a lot of recent threads on here saying the people are having trouble finding places that will let them have their rottie. I have even seen one or two people at the point of giving up. Please, don't give up your family member!!! When I was having a rough time, I decided to hit up Craig's List. Well, the "Rent an apt/housing" section was overwhelming, so I decided to get people to come to me! I posted an ad. You wouldn't BELEIVE the responses I received! Tons and tons of emails telling me about how adorable my dog is and they have the perfect spot for me. I hope I can posts links on here... If this goes through, this is my ad. I reposted it because I am moving again in July:

Need apt/condo/duplex! Have big, well trained dog! I have renter's ins!

Like I said, please don't give up a beloved part of your family. If there's a will, there's a way!!

Adding my admiration to the others - that's a brilliant idea. And your dog IS adorable! Great idea putting a hat on him. You should be very proud of yourself - we are!

Good luck on your next move!

Haha, thanks everyone. I wasn't trying to get applause, I was just trying to help people out with ideas. It is SOO hard finding a place, and I just think this makes it a bit easier. MissingMarley, adding a hat and a crown really takes away any preconceived notions, right?? Haha...

Re: Finding a Rott Friendly Residence...

I so wish it was that easy with me. It not only trying to find a place that will let me have Janus, it's the fact that we (myself and boyfriend) are moving in with his folks and they already have their 2 dogs limit already, (granted one is a small poodlish that i consider half a dog compared to the size of Janus and his half brother). I know I can find a place that will allow us all to move in and continue our happy family, it's just the inbetween stage that is so hard. My boyfriend's mother said that maybe I should let someone have Janus till we get a place of our own. Having someone take care of him wouldn't be a problem if I knew of someone that would do that for me when we got to Florida (from Maine) and I could visit him every day (and if I could trust someone to propperly care for him).

If anyone has any idea or suggestions, I'd gladly like to hear them.

Janus's Mom
How long are you staying with your boyfriend's mom? If you're not staying long, then is there a law against having an additional dog 'visit' for a few months?

if it's anything like ontario, canada, having that third dog in a residential area for more than a week is in violation.

Re: Finding a Rott Friendly Residence...

I too had great success placing an ad with Craigslist. I got frustrated with all the ads that said they were dog friendly and then when they find out you have a rottweiler slam the door in your face. Finally posted an ad stating exactly how many, how big and what breed of dog and got some great responses and the place I chose the home owner met the dogs and simply adores them. It helped I had them all run through their tricks for her. I think my girlies non stop kissing helped too.
