Thumbs up A place to live in Orlando

I'm relocating to Orlando Florida and I'm losing my mind trying to find a place to live. Everyone apartment I call says No and suggest I rent from a private party. But when I look at private rentals on line I still cant find any luck. I can't drive around and look for a place, because I'm still in North Carolina. I'm just so frustrated right now. My Rotti is great and I know he would pass a pet interview with flying colors. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any people in the greater Orlando area who would rent to me?

Re: A place to live in Orlando

Have you tried looking on Craigslist or posting an ad on there yourself?? I posted an ad and told all about how sweet my Beau was and posted the cutest sweetest pictures of him I could find. I got TONS of responses.... Good luck with your search. It took me quite awhile to find a place... Also mention in your ad that you already have secured a company for renter's insurance that have no problems with rottweilers, (i.e. State Farm or Travelers)

You might also want to mention that you have references. Vet, previous landlord, etc. good luck! I know renting with a rottie is very difficult.

Another option is to call a realtor or property management company that can do the leg work for you. They get a fee from the renter/management company not out of your pocket. I used a realtor to find my family a Rottie friendly landlord.

Have you thought about putting a CGC on your Rottie? Find upcoming tests here.

Maybe this could help "sell" your boy to prospective LLs.

Too bad you don't want to re-locate on the coast in Palm Bay. I have a rental house coming available there in a couple of months. This used to be my personal residence, so on the huge screen porch there is already a doggie door and in the back corner of the yard is a large dog kennel.

I had the same problem when I relocated to a bigger city. I used a service like rent.com. It seemed like the places with no restrictions were complete dumps, but this place is decent and I can have my dogs!

Most apartments wont allow dogs over 40 lbs for a couple reasons: damage to the apartment, some folks dont think large dogs should be in an apartment, folks not picking up after their pets, and neighbors complaining about noise. I would try for a house for sure. The market is a buyers market right now. Any way you can purchase your own home at this point? I tell you, its the best thing I did. Not only do I not have to worry about what pets I can have, but now that I have moved out, someone else is making the payments for me! Good luck to you!
