Re: People are so ignorant

I absolutely KNOW you understand my point, but if you want...I'll humor you. Let's say I'm gone 10 hours a day..that still leaves 14 hrs. I'm with them...they understand that I rule the house, whether I'm there or not. In the yard, I'd have to guess that most dogs relegated to the yard get little interaction from their owners..let's say at most, an hour a day...to me, that's a big difference.

Hey, please come to my house and show me how you did that!

Seriously, a dog understands that you rule the house WHEN YOU ARE PRESENT. Any lack of misbehavior when you're not there is simply due to either no desire on the dog's part, a lack of "awareness" that there is a misbehavior to be had, or a lack of evidence....LOL.

Chili is actually more territorial when in the house than in the yard. I discovered this after I gave her free roam downstairs when I was gone instead of confining her to an xpen with a crate attached. The way I discovered it was because she showed me what she does when I'm gone when I was home......rearing up and standing like a bear on my bed, fin fully engaged and barking her fool head off, to get a look out the window facing the street that's only covered on the bottom half to get a glimpse of the "godzilla" lurking outside and yelling at him that this is HER turf.

So we modified her free roam a bit.......the little darling no longer gets to sleep on (or use as a podium, LOL) MY BED when I'm gone....only when I'm home to help chase godzilla away...

The only true in that above statement most likely is: I'd have to guess!
