Crate

Is it nessaccary for a dog. To be able to sit up in his crate? Or is it just fine, to be able to turn around?

Re: Crate

The crate should be big enough for the dog to sit, or stand without bumping his head. It should be big enough to turn around in and to lie down comfortably. My crates are 48" long 36" high and 30" wide. Midwestern brand.

Re: Crate

Quick question, If I am getting a 10 week old puppy, should I buy the crate that he will end up needing or one that will suit him now?
Thanks!!!

Re: Crate

I suggest getting the wire crate that includes a divider. This lets him/her grow into the crate. In the beginning adjust the divider to give him just enough room as above.

Re: Crate

You could also make a divider out of plywood if your crate doesn't have one. We had one cut to size at the local hardware store. We used clamps to keep the piece of wood from moving.

Re: Crate

You're very welcome CleasMommy

We also put some cardboard boxes in the crate to make sure the plywood didn't move. They outgrow that small space so fast. Enjoy!

Thank you He can stand up and turn. The problem is when he sits up.

Re: Crate

We got Jett when she was 14 weeks old. Rather than having to go out later and get a crate large enough for her when she grew, we paid a little more and got the XL crate with a divider, however i never used it. She will be 6 months old on 16th April and loves sprawling out in the crate with her wubber kong and her toys. I also have her water bowl in her crate and she hasn't knocked it over yet *knocks on wood*.
