Hey all, does anyone have a good website where I can purchase seat belts/harness's for my boys? My car isn't near big enough to carry them in the kennel, and we just adopted a new pup from a shelter and I definately don't want the two of them falling all over each other!! Thank you!!

Re: Seat Belt Just word of caution. With my previous vehicle I had the same problem, except I only have one dog and the crate would not fit in the car. I purchased a seatbelt harness, put it on my 14 week old puppy, was on my way to take puppy to obedience class (45 min drive). Within a second (not kidding), no more than a second, she had the seatbelt half chewed. To make a long story short, I loaned my mom my car and it got into an accident, written off by the insurance company and had to get a new car. I made sure that I measured the crate and took a tape measurer. I was going to make sure this car was able to fit a large sized crate.

Re: Seat Belt Beau is 2 1/2 yrs (105 pound Rottie) and Samson is 1 1/2 yrs (60 pound Chow mix). Luckily they are past their chewing stage. Although, this would be something new for them so I'm not sure how they would react. The good thing is, both are big and loud enough I'm pretty sure I could hear the beginnings of chewing.... Thanks for the word of caution, and when I trade my car in about a year or so, I am thinking of getting a truck. Then, I could have them in their kennels with no problem (never ever ever in the back of the truck without a kennel)

Re: Seat Belt Hello ![]() I have the Ruff Rider seatbelt harness for Bessy. Totally great! I strap the harness on her, and attach the harness to the car seatbelt. You can attach the seatbelt higher (dog has to sit) or lower (dog can lie down). Best thing is, it's really easy to put fit onto your dog!! Now everytime I pull out the harness, Bessy knows it's time for a car ride! Bessy hasn't chewed the harness... she's too busy watching the scenery outside ![]()

| Re: Seat Belt If you're going to the trouble, get a crash tested harness. The Ruff Rider Roadie is the only one I know, tho there may be others. I have one for each of my girls, and the product is a godsend! They have the added advantage of being able to get water bottle attatchments, collapsable water bowls, hiking packs, etc. You can attatch long leads, or just use the lead that is actually part where the car seat belt attatches. Well worth the $$!! The "basic" is only $20. Ruffrider.com | Dog Seatbelts | Car Safety Harnesses and Pet Safety As far as the chewing thing? Mine have never tried. But you CAN adjust it so they are laying down. Much less chance of being able to chew it, perhaps.

It must have been an anxiety thing because now, I can take him to a flyball tournament where he's in a harness all day with no troubles. It's still worth a try tho for the safety of the dog.

Re: Seat Belt Maybe I'm not understanding correctly. When you say "chewing" the harness off, do you mean the actual harnes itself? Or the attatchment? Or the seatbelt? I can only speak for the Ruff Rider...CORRECTLY fitted. Harness ONLY. If it has been fitted properly I'm not seeing how a dog could get part of his jaw underneath to actually chew. He'd practically have to break his own neck to do it. Then, he'd have to come in on top of the harness and scrape or gnaw from the top? Surely this would be heard? Like I said, mine NEVER tried, so I truly AM curious as to how this was done. C'mon, chewin' houdini owners: explain for this curious, befuddled DA.
