| How often and for how long to do you walk you rottweilers? I have a 19month old rotti bitch and I am unsure of how long to walk her, she has her longest walks at the weekend these roughly last around 2 hrs, I am also getting a 19 week old rottweiler today another bitch, really excited! |

| Re: walking? I would dare say your kid will outlast you when it comes to walking. The only key is water. They will need plenty of it. You will have to devise a way to conveniently provide cool (if warm climate) water at regular intervals -- depending mainly on climate. Also try to avoid the hottest part of the day in warm climates (you should be the first one to know this ;-). But kids love exercise and it really helps their hips in later years. |

| Re: walking? Quote:
As for walking, it depends on the dog. Shelby is dysplastic so I don't take her on really long walks, she's good for about 1.5 miles or so before needing a break. Hudson (greyhound/mastiff) hasn't required a break from anything. He is very energetic and can last a long time on walks, hikes etc whereas Shelby cannot. |

| I agree...I would not be adding another female Rottweiler to your home. Two Rottweiler females, once mature may not get along. May even want to kill one another. Are you prepared to keep them separated for the rest of their life...if things don't work out between them? Please read this thread: ttp://www.rottweiler.net/forums/behavior/43753-bitch-fights-raising-two-adult-bitches.html As far as walking...dogs must be conditioned to walk for longer distances...not fair to the dog to walk 30 minutes a day during the week, and then take the dog out for a two hour walk on a weekend. Start doing longer walks during the week....walking up hills...and condition the dog for longer distances. Gina

| Re: walking? I walk my 12 month old 1hr in the morning and then we try to go to the dog park and have her play with other dogs for about another hour. By the time we come back home she is exhausted and wants to sleep. But she loves it! She is a solid 90lbs. |

| Re: walking? We walk Jett 4 times daily for 30 minutes each stint. She loves getting outside and exploring things. We have 1 acre which Jett has the full run of, however she cant get the other dog scents here or scents of other animals, people etc. She enjoys her exercise and so do we.
