These instances are just so ridiculous that they simply make me sick to my stomach. It's like if the law is encouraging people with bad intentions by being on their side. After all, we are in the country were people sue Mcdonalds because they are obese or spilled their hot coffee on theirselves.

I am praying that Congo's life will be spared in NJ for defending his owner. If you are not aware of it, here is the story:

I have to say that my favourite sign of all time says:

"TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT. SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN."

Effective, don't you think???LOL!

We live in the country, and we've got this sign at the end of our long driveway; "Young dog, old dog, several stupid dogs. Please drive carefully."

Re: Neighbor ripping down my "DOG ON PREMISES" signs!

We currently have a "rottweiler crossing" sign on our gate...before that we had a "my rottweiler can get to the gate in three seconds...how fast are you?" I really didn't want to infer my dogs were dangerous, but rather let people know they were there.

Re: Neighbor ripping down my "DOG ON PREMISES" signs!

We too, have the Rottweiler crossing signs on the gates. One was removed by who knows?!? I put them on the gates after I came home in a brown-out and let the dogs out unaware the Com-ed guy was at the back of the property yelling and screaming with a pry-bar over his head all sorts of lovely descriptions of my two. I told him to stand still, shut-up and put the bar down.....duh...both dogs responded to the "come" command and sat at my feet...the guy was still yelling like a fool! I installed padlocks on the gate and they remain today. Padlocking your gates is a great safety precaution! It also prevents kids from leaving the gates unsecure(when their ball goes in our yard)...all our neighbors are aware of the dogs, if I could think of a way to deter them from climbing and hanging over my 6ft fence other than hot-wire I would do it! Re: Neighbor ripping down my "DOG ON PREMISES" signs!

I would just post a "Dog on premises" sign. In Ontario if you put a "Beware of dog" sign on your property and a stranger trespasses and is injured by your dog, you cannot be sued per the Ontario Dog Owners Liability Act. But I like the "Dog on premises" sign better as it doesn't insuate that your dog is dangerous / viscious.

I have seen a couple of cute commical signs. One was a sign with a picture of a Rottweiler on it, below the saying "Got balls? Jump this fence.

Re: Neighbor ripping down my "DOG ON PREMISES" signs!

There is a line of signs called the "Gatekeeper" signs and each dog is drawn as a charicature w/each breed having something different included and they say something like Rottweiler - Keeper of the Gate. They are pretty cute/funny and I have been thinking of ordering one of those just to let people know that we have Emmy. My gate is also padlocked though!
