| Re: Puppy advice & Male name suggestions Quote:
On the other hand, at the time we brought in the Dane, we had a 4 year old neutered male rottie that died suddenly a month later (aggressive lymphoma). There were no issues between Merlin, the rottie, and Angus, the Dane. I've always found that our males were more steady in general than our females. The females seem to hold grudges against each other, are quick to argue over toys, beds, people they want to "claim", anything. Our guys have tended to just hang out and radiate calm confidence most of the time. Names...Moose, Angus, Walter (the foster's new owners nameded him this), Prince Charming (we called the foster this), Hansel, Merlin, Gandalf..............I like fantasy/fairy tale names a lot...

| Re: Puppy advice & Male name suggestions I like both males and females, I really like my girls, although they are, in my experience, always softer than males. My boys, Justice, who has passed, and now my new pup Ruckus, are far more sure of themselves, confident and I find, easier to train. That said, I will always have my girls and just one, token boy. All of that said, personally, as a breeder, I will not place a male puppy with anyone who has not owned a Rottweiler before and I never let anyone pick their own pup (I place pups exactly as Poohbearsmom described). There is just more to a male than there is a female, size-wise and otherwise. Kristi

| Re: Puppy advice & Male name suggestions I've always had female rotties. This is my first male. He is fantastic! He is very confident, but pretty mellow. He just turned 7 months old. He loves to play and hates to be told what to do! Typical kid. I love him and his personality. We named him Hondo. I loved the movie SWAT (Hondo was Samuel L. Jacksons character, he was the leader of the SWAT team), hubby is a huge John Wayne fan. It was perfect! LOL |
