Good Rotts are hard to find in Hawaii

Aloha to all,

I just am having the hardest time finding AKC Rottweiler puppies here in Hawaii. Already spoke to the local clubs with no luck. Wondering if there is anyone out there who lives in Hawaii or knows of a good breeder in Hawaii that has puppies or is going to have really soon.

Mahalo, Glenn

We do not allow discussion of named breeders on the forums. Our members can assist you with the information you need in order to find and choose an ethical breeder.

Check out one of the AKC dog shows. If you go online to the AKC you can put in the state of Hawaii then see where the shows are American Kennel Club - Event and Awards Search
If you then click on the show it will tell you who is the show secretary. About one week before the show you can go to the show secretary's sight and get actual ring times and what rings the rottweilers will be showing. Sounds a little complicated but not really.
Here is a link to an upcoming show in Hawaii, not sure if it is anywhere near you but is an example of how you can find events.
BaRay Event Services Inc. - Upcoming Shows
If you click on the link to the left of the "orchid..." and then scroll down to the bottom, click on the "judging program".
Only 2 rottweilers entered but maybe you can connect with them and get more info. They show at 10am on Sat and after 11am on Sunday. Sunday would be a great judge to go watch; she has been doing it for a long time.
Be sure to read all the stickies on how to find a COE breeder.
Oh one more thing (: when attempting to talk to someone that is showing it is usually best to wait until after they are completely finished in the ring.

Aloha Glenn

The Hawaii Kennel Club will be holding a show on March 1 & 2 at the Blaisedale Arena. Rotties are shown at 9:30 on Sat and 8:30 on Sunday. You can meet some reputable breeders there who can give you some ideas.

Re: Good Rotts are hard to find in Hawaii

Aloha from the Big Island,

I am having the same difficulty finding any breeders that are even thinking about breeding. I have been searching for over a year. Most of the litters that come available are very BYB. They don't ask anything more than "Do you have the $1000 for the pup. Some people have suggested looking in Australia and New Zealand because there is no quarantine from there. Buying something sight unseen from another country is a little scary for me. Hope you have some luck.

I am tracking down a few new leads. If I am successful, I will report back. Then maybe we could exchange email addresses to get the info to each other.

I feel your pain. I have two geriatric female mutts (boxer-mix and a shepard-mix). They are 12 and 11.5 yrs old and showing their age. I would like to get the puppy before they go.
