Looking for Good Press About Rotties I hope you guys can help me--I'm looking for good press about Rotties. An ACO in one of the local shelters who calls Rottie rescue when good Rotties come into her shelter asked me if I can share with her the good press Rotties get. She's tired of hearing people (including people in the shelter in which she works) bad-mouth Rotties and wants to put up a display of favorable press mentions. If you have URLs to links, scanned articles you can share with me or other info where our best breed is mentioned in a favorable light, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

JonandMichelle - Great link!! Here is some other stuff I found - http://www.ohio.com/pets/docs/025844.htm WAVERLY (Florida) -- A 2-year-old girl is recovering from an attack by a pit bull, and animal control officials said a neighborhood Rottweiler deserves credit for forcing the pit bull to release the girl. Summer Henson of Waverly was taken by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for deep puncture wounds of the neck, bites on her arm and leg and scrapes and bruises from being dragged, said Polk County sheriff's spokeswoman Michal Shanley. Summer was in fair condition Tuesday night, a nursing supervisor said. "If the Rottweiler didn't distract the dog then something worse would have happened to Summer," said Donna Seiler, spokeswoman for Polk County Animal Services. Shanley said the attack occurred Sunday morning outside Summer's home on Magnolia Avenue in Waverley, about six miles north of Lake Wales. The 50-pound pit bull, named Roscoe, had attacked a boy several months ago and had been ruled dangerous by Animal Services. The boy suffered a 3-inch cut and received several stitches, said Eddy de Castro, Animal Services director. While Roscoe's owner built a pen for the dog, the pit bull was being cared for by a Waverly man. But about 10 a.m. Sunday, the dog jumped through a screen window of a porch and crawled under a 6-foot fence, said de Castro. Summer was playing in her yard with a group of children when she was attacked, Shanley said. Seiler said the pit bull bit Summer on the arm and leg, then grabbed her by the neck and began dragging her through a yard into a street. A 75-pound Rottweiler owned by Summer's aunt, Tammy Amburgey, then attacked the pit bull, forcing the dog to drop Summer, Seiler said. Stars Steve Coleman, the man taking care of the pit bull, and another neighbor each shot the pit bull, striking the dog twice and killing him, Shanley said. Roscoe's owner, Marie Kessler of Lake Wales, was to keep the animal in a secure area, animal control officials said, and the dog had been staying at Coleman's house in Waverley until Kessler built a pen for him. "The dog was not supposed to be left alone in a screened porch," Seiler said. "If you break the dangerous dog guidelines and something happens, then you face felony charges." ----------------------------------------------------------- When a 21-year-old man walked down a city street holding a rifle and heading for a crowded schoolyard, Canada’s only Rottweiller police dog was called to the scene. During the stand-off, Caesar jumped at the man. He had almost locked on to the shooter when the gunman fired off a fatal shot. Luckily, the distraction the dog caused allowed police to subdue the crazed gunman. The man lived but Caesar, sadly, did not. Caesar’s handler, Constable Randy Goss, said his "whole world was just crumbling in front of him" as he watched the scene. Caesar was hailed as a hero by police organizations across Canada.

You could also try the Animal Planet, Discovery Channel or Learning Channel websites. Many good Rottie stories have been televised and you may be able to do a search in their archives.

We have a story about a Rottie here in CT (in the NERR rescue group) that saved a womans life. Best part of the story is that he had an active application fo him BEFORE he saved the womans life - now his forever family has the newspaper story framed on their wall!! E-mail me at Gosmer2721@aol.com, and I'll send it to you...not sure how to link it to the website.

| Hi Angelbunny, Even though we haven't been in the newspapers or on the news, I'll try to get a pic of Shiloh in his assistance dog gear. Also, would photos of Rottweilers with "their" children be helpful. I sure have some of those!

I have made it a habit to save copies of all good Rottweiler press in a file. I inundated my insurance company who had threatened to drop me a couple of years ago because I had a rottweiler with as much positive press as I had at the time. I have a lot more now. I print up all the links on this site and anywhere else I run across articles about good things Rotts are doing. . (P.S., the insurance company did not drop me after all):)
