sigh, diapers. yet another thing to watch out for

it seems I hardly have time to post any thing anymore, but I thought I'd pass this one along.

my parents had their 60th wedding anniversary recently, and my sister and I threw them a party. it involved several sets of house guests from out of town. My niece and her family are in one bedroom, and have a little guy who is in diapers.

last night, I took Boris outside to let him run around in the yard a bit, and poop and sniff. He seemed a bit distressed. I put him in his crate for bed, and he was panting and whining like he does when he has eaten something he shouldn't. I gave him some pumpkin last night and also this morning with his breakfast. I went checking poop for clues of what might be bothering him, and saw some shreds of diaper in his poop.

I asked John about it, and he said he did pick up some diaper fluff that Boris had gotten from somewhere, but we couldn't figure out where, It is hard to know with company.

after some detective work, we all decided that they had left one of those swimmers diapers on a chair, and Boris must have gotten that. I became worried, they are filled with a far more absorbent material, and the diaper was unused..dry...and I didn't know how much he ate.

so another vet call on a Sunday afternoon. she told me those diapers are filled with silica and we needed to watch him. equal parts food and pumpkin, small meals and watch for distress. well today he pooped a lot, but no more diaper. until it all comes out, poop patrol and pumpkin for us. He seems to be feeling ok. last night he was gagging, crying, gassy and I just didn't know why.

With the gagging and crying I would definitely head off to visit the Vet now.

Re: sigh, diapers. yet another thing to watch out for

He is under a vet's care, he has a long history of eating things he shouldn't, and we, by now, have a long history of knowing what to watch for and how to treat.

I thought it might be helpful for people to know that the diapers they make for babies to use in swimming pools have a more absorbent substance in them.

Monday evening, he is pooping and eating, no vomiting or signs of distress. However, that stuff is still in his gut. so until it passes, numerous small meals with lots of pumpkin.
