| Health insurance that covers genetic health issues Ok, so late year in August I went with PetCareInsurance http://www.petcareinsurance.com/us/d...rance-gold.asp to cover our Female Rottie that was just a little over a year old. Reason we went with them is because they covered genetic health issues like HD and ED. I now receieved a letter stating they will be increasing my premium $3.00 a month (to $35.95)because they had to switch to a new company the provides the coverage and cost more. My question is I have till about mid August before the price increase and want to possibly look into finding another company to go with that will cover genetic health issues. I haven't looked at companies since last year so does anyone have suggestions on ones they are currently on or looked into that covers genetic issues. Also if you could provide the monthly cost and reason you went with them or didn't go with them. Thanks in advance. |

| Re: Health insurance that covers genetic health issues If your girl is almost two, have you had her hips and elbows x-rayed and sent to OFA yet? If they are fine, why have insurance for HD and ED?

| Re: Health insurance that covers genetic health issues Sharon Marples - Yes only had her hips x-rayed and will be sending them to OFA once I can get thrm from the vet. Reason for insurance is to cover accidents and any other health problems in the future (genetic or not). |

Normally, you don't send the OFA films in, the vet does. They should have all the forms, etc and should be the ones sending them in. I would have expected them to send them in within a few days of taking the xrays. I'm surprised they are releasing them to you for you to send in.
