Irresponsible Owners!!

This story is one we hear so much of, didn't even make the newspaper. A boyfriend & girlfriend living together have 2 pits, 1 intact male and 1 intact female, female in heat, dog mounts her and the boyfriend steps in to break it up well the male turned on him and he got over 70 bites in both of his hands and part of one hand was almost torn off, the girlfriend goes to help and she sustained bites on both of her forearms and thighs. They were both hospitalized. The kid told the Animal control officer that he had aggressive tendencies the last 3 yrs. so now the dog is surrendered to ACO and to be euthanized in 10 days. The female did no biting. She wasn't vaccinated for rabies, he was. They cited both parties. Stories like this will keep on happening until irresponsible people stop owning dogs that should be neutered, spayed and trained, all breeds. I'm sorry they got hurt, a hard lesson to be learned. Well I hope the learn.

Hmmm ..... stable temperaments.

Perhaps best that the dog is euthanized before he passes on his lovely temperament to his offspring and to unsuspecting buyers.

The same kind that breeds them and adds to the breed specific problems that are all over this board.

My bf's mom has 2 pitts and intends to breed them....grant it these are great dogs, I just love them both but I do not feel they should be breed. She won't listen to me or anyone else for that matter.

In a town near where I live, all pits have to be muzzled while being walked, only one pit per house and you must be over 21 to own one. Where I live we don't categorize, even know they have tried, the vicious dog act is what we use, no matter the breed. Unfortunately we have alot of crap people with pits who are ruining them because of status. Ticks me off. I've worked in the animal field for 21 yrs. and it just gets worse. I will always have a rottie, but once again I buy from good stock and put alot of work and love into my dogs, socialization is so misunderstood by alot of people.
