Looking for sled pulling boots for a dog

Hi guys.
Well today is the real first day of winter, and harley seems to be alot more sensitive this year than last year with his feet. He is an active dog, and we wanted to start sled pulling, but can not do so with the cold hurting him so much. Do any of you have any reccomendations of great boots that will fit a rottweiler, and stay on.
do not want to keep dishing out money for new pairs....
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

Post Re: Looking for sled pulling boots for a dog

I know that some people have had good luck with Muttlucks. They are made in Canada...so they should be good for our cold weather.

I've had Baxter out pulling the sled for the last couple of days too. He pulled the garbage/recycle boxes on the sled down the lane this morning. It's about -16c, and as long as he kept moving his feet were fine.

I think since we had such a warm winter so far, with little snow...the dog's feet have not toughened up yet. We've lived here for a long time, and had some really extreme cold winters...and I've never put boots on the dogs (of any breed). They've gone snowshoeing with me, hiking and rounding up cattle...and their feet were fine. As long as they do not get wet and then ice balls...and they keep moving, I've had no problems.

Enjoy the snow!

Gina

We have muttluks but last year got them late and only got to use them once...Bear was not impressed but they did stay on and keep the snow from balling up in his paws.
