Rottie friendly Home insurance in Ontario?

Does anyone know of any Rottweiller friendly Home insurance companies in Ontario Canada? Seems to be a problem with every company that I have contacted so far. I don't understand why it matters what kind of dog you have, I am insuring my house, not my dog!
Thanks

I am with Johnsons, and have been since I lived in Nova Scotia. When we got Meeko, I called and asked my rep point-blank if it was a problem that I had a Rottweiler. She said that they don't care as long as there have been no bites/claims Now, this is tenant insurance (I rent a home). Maybe it is different for "home" insurance.

Re: Rottie friendly Home insurance in Ontario?

There are quite a few homeowners insurance companies who don't descriminate breeds. We have State Farm. I believe Farmers and Liberty Mutual were mentioned in the past. There have been others discussed. You could try a search.

Re: Rottie friendly Home insurance in Ontario?

You've just brought something to my attention that I never considered. When we bought our house almost 8 years ago, we had a rotti/dob cross. I don't remember being asked what kind of dog we had....... We are with Co-Operators for everything(home, auto, life), I think I better look into this.

Post Re: Rottie friendly Home insurance in Ontario?

Just looked up our home insurance policy, and the company is AXA. It's a farm insurance company that is for rural people.
We have no problems having Rottweilers, infact the broker came by a few years ago...when we had 3 Rotts, and he commented on how we would never be broken into.

He's right...all of our neighbours have had break-ins.....even with alarms

I think as long as your dog has not bitten anyone or any claims have been made...they do not care what you have.

It would not hurt to get the CGN certificate on your dog, just incase there are problems in the future.
