| Does foot size matter? Roxie is just over 10 weeks now and it seems that everyone who sees her has an opinion as to how big (or small) she will be based on the size of her feet. One person looked at her and said she won't weigh more than 65lbs. The next person says, "Oh, she's going to be a BIG girl!" This weekend a couple saw her in Petco and asked, "Her parents were small, weren't they?" I told them that her Dad was 95lbs. and short and stocky and her Mom was 100lbs. and tall and lean. The man explained that her paws showed her size and said that at her age they should be twice the size they are and out of proportion with the rest of her because Rottweiler puppies are very clumsy because of their paws being bigger than their bodies. Roxie's feet are very proportioned to the rest of her body and she is not clumsy at all, although I have read that Rottweiler puppies are. She's not. So can you tell the size of your Rottweiler by the size of their feet or is that just a myth? Personally I hope she is small-I've been telling everyone that I think she'll top out at about 85lbs. But that is simply my guess. I'm currious for your expert thoughts!!! RoxiesMama |

| Re: Does foot size matter? I've found I can safely ignore most of what the man on the street or woman on the street tells me or says to be about Rotties. Your dog will be as big as her genes dictate. She may be bigger than this if you over feed her, but that's another story. The next time someone says anything about your puppy's paws, smile politely and make some noncommital reply. |

| Re: Does foot size matter? Just say they will take her where she needs to go, and that's all that really matters. I agree with the comment about the average "man or woman on the street" and their opinions about Rotties. We have to just take them all with a grain of salt, and some days we will definitely exceed our daily sodium requirement in doing so .

| Re: Does foot size matter? You can get an idea of what their bone strength may be and which puppies have more bone than others, but it certainly does not indicate how big a puppy will end up in the end. Kristi

| Re: Does foot size matter? that reminded me of an rottie "expert" i met at a pet store once. Chivas was 26 inches tall, heavily muscled and weighed 116lbs. A bit oversized for a female but a nice size for a male. He told me she was SMALL and I needed to feed her raw eggs to make her grow.

| Re: Does foot size matter? I think feet size can determine how big a puppy is going to get, if you are compairing say a rottie and a yorkie LOL Melonie

| Re: Does foot size matter? I will agree that most people you meet, say lots of different things and you need to take them with a grain of salt. But if her feet are actually big for a rottweiler, and one her age, chances are they could determine that she will be a large one. |

| Re: Does foot size matter? Personally, I think it's an old wives tale. You're going to laugh, of course, but when I was a kid all the external relatives went on and on about my same age cousin and I. It was maddening. I'd be taller, bigger...because of my feet! She'd be tiny and short. Well guess what! We're both around 5'3" But I still wear an half size bigger in a shoe.Total nonesense! Of course we're, er...not puppies.

| Re: Does foot size matter? I do not go by feet size, Chopper's paws have been the same size since he was 12 weeks, he is an Am.Bulldog 22 inches and 80 pounds (normal size according to standard) With Gypsy the place I borded her at 2 months ago the lady said she was so small she wouldnt be 60 pounds, she is now 41 and 5 months she gains between 5-7 pounds a month now, So many people say they know so much about rottweilers, kind of like the lady I met that said they were bred to "Kill bear" lol everyone will have their own 2cents worth and most times it isnt worth a penny! One time some lady asked what kind of dog Chopper was so I told her (she was in her car at the GAs station) well as she was pulling away she said "what a liar thats a white boxer" lol see so many people just come to conclusions no matter what. ask your vet if they think your pup is a good weight for its age, thats what I did yesterday, also Gypsys feet have grown with her... unlike CHoppers And have fun with all the little comments by "experts" that probally have only owned fish

| Re: Does foot size matter? Thank you for all of your humorous replies! They've all given me great laughs! I will take everything with a grain of salt and smile and nod and in one ear and out the other. I've kept journal books for both of my children for like "kid's say the darndest things" type and I have decided to do the same for Roxie for all the "interesting" things people say about her! The good, the bad, the ugly, and the down right laughable! It will be fun to go back and read through it all when she is older. Thanks, RoxiesMama |

LoL good idea, a lady at the vet one day told me " all rotts and pits were bred to kill" and that more lived in my town of fowlerville then the city of detroit, well Im not sure on the population here in hickville, but I know its by far less the detroit, such a negitive person she was, even though she owned a rott/shep mix its to funny but I think the "bred to kill bear" is my all time favorite so far
