| First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow I am so excited that I got my boys into daycare! I think they will really love it. I packed up and moved to UT 2 months ago and am renting a basement w/very small yard. That was fine when I wasn't working cause we would just drive to the park or riverwalk for a couple hours. (Now that I found a great job, I am looking for a house to buy near where I work and can't wait!) But last week at work, I felt terrible they were in the house for 8-9 hours and Xander has started to be destructive again because of boredom. I am sure they miss the nice big windows they could just lay in front of all day and watch everything. (well, I miss it for them!) So, long story short, I found a wonderful place with a huge outdoor and indoor play area. I hope they behave themselves so they can keep going until I find a house. Xander has always loved all other dogs, but lately a couple dogs he didn't care for on walks. Has anyone else tried daycare? Were they bored if they didn't go anymore?

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow If I worked a normal schedual (I work 10pm to 7am with Tuesdays/Wednesdays off) then I might consider doggy daycare or a dog walker. I would have to talk to them and ask lots of questions, but if everything sounded okay I would definarly consider it a couple times a week (maybe 2 times a week for daycare but maybe daily for a dog walker). As long as you made sure they will introduce your guys to the others and watch them closely to make sure there are no bullys (another dog dominating yours or vice versa) then everything should be okay. With places like that how many people are there to care for a "Class" and are the different classes with different size dogs? I live in a small area without any dog walkers or daycares (I think I heard of one daycare about 10 miles from here but they are "small dogs" only) |

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow I checked out 3 different doggie daycare places and found them very nice places, with staff I felt comfortable with and they also felt comfortable with Tucker, and vice versa. Tucker went to both of the ones close to my job when I have to work late 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. He loves it, and gets lots of playtime. When I pick him up a the end of the day, he's happy to see me and anxious to get in the car, where once he's in, he lays down and is knocked out until we get home. Dinner, then he's out like a light, until potty time at 10 pm. He gets very excited about daycare. We also have a doggie daycare that has webcams throughout their facility, so you can go online and watch your dog!! How cool is that?!? |

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow I was just now listening to a story about doggie daycare on NPR. They were talking about one in the Wash DC area that has the webcams. The owners they were profiling have a Lab, it works out well for them and their dog, and the wife, particularly (the husband is traveling a lot) loves the webcams!

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow That would be really cool to watch your doggy occasionally on the webcam. I have a question for thoes who have used doggy day care. Are any of the ones you have seen or used open late (Like till 9pm or later)? If I was in a better location that had a daycare that stayed open late it would be great because I could be with Arwen all day, and then drop her off at daycare while I sleep, then pick her up before work. |

My guys LOVE most other dogs...but sometimes my 5 yo is not too sure (especially if the other guy is a bully). So I am extremely excited that I might be able to give them SOME extra playtime (that doesn't wear mom out too! ). The facility is also set up so that you can watch on the webcam...this makes it worth every $$$$...I don't remember the costs but I do remember that I didn't think it was too high. Keep us posted on what your guys think about their new playmates! |

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow Here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area prices range from $17.00 to $22.00. Actually I should say this is the price range of the facilities that I looked at. There is Barking Hound Village, based in Atlanta that has a facility here in Dallas. Tucker has been there a few times, and the other owners I've spoken to really like it. |

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow Yep, this one has a webcam, too. I saw them running around, playing with new friends, it was great!!! They really loved it and were both very good boys. If the daycare ever has problems with a dog being a bully, they put it in a kennel, so that didn't worry me too much. This place has only been open 3 months and is very nice with a large outdoor and indoor play area, pool, raised beds, the works! The other place I visited only had an outdoor area, so I didn't think that was best. They are both completely wiped out, but Xander has obedience class, so I better wake his butt up! :-) The prices here were about $15-$17 a day, but the more you purchase the better the prices get. So, I paid for a full month, $200 for one dog and $100 for the next. Since my rent is so cheap right now, it is very doable. After I buy a house will be another story! I didn't find any that stayed open late, but I only visited the ones that had a website. (Is that lazy or what? Can't even call people anymore!)

| Re: First Day at Doggy daycare tomorrow i send my dog to doggie daycare twice a week. i send him because i work crazy hours and i dont want him to spend too much time alone. he absolutely loves it. he has the best time there and i can watch him on the webcam. to me you really have to check them out, i started at a smaller daycare when he was smaller but he quickly outgrew them and the lady was nice enough to reccommend another daycare that handles large dogs. to me doggie daycare is a wonderful thing to do esp. with the city dogs. |
