I would however, not be angry at the vet. This poor dog was not checked out for months, and all that time she had HW and her other problems. Possibly if she had been treated for HW earlier she would have made it??I do hope your next dog will be a healthy Rottweiler. Gina

| Re: To take Rita home or not? Oh no :( so sorry to hear about Rita, she has been on my mind for a while now, thanks for letting us know and I am glad she had you to the end. I hope you get a rotty that brings as much happiness as Rita would have. |

| Re: To take Rita home or not? It is unfortunate that what was seen as just a quiet, lazy demeanor in the several months Rita was at your workplace was actually more than likely health related. There is no way to know for sure how things might have turned out if her condition had been discovered sooner. It is probably fair to say that her chances would have been better. But, you tried to help her in the end, and she is thankful for that.

| Re: To take Rita home or not? I am sorry that most of you feel I am to blame for not taking her to the vet sooner. She did go to the vet for shots & check ups, the crew out here took her on several occasions and this same vet never mentioned anything about disease or health, he just continued to give her shots. I never said Rita had a lazy demeanor, I said she was slow moving or getting up which we attributed not only to her age but her stiff joints. She was, after all, 10 or more years old. She was a quiet dog as well, she was content being loved and petted rather than barking and jumping. I did everything that I could, as fast as I could and don't have any negative feelings about my actions. I know that regardless of what happened, Rita is in a much better place, feeling better than she ever has before & not blaming me for anything that happened. |

If one of my animals gets to be as sick as it sounds Rita was, I would hope my vet talked to me about possibly euthanizing them rather than having them endure any further pain. |

| Re: To take Rita home or not? I am so sorry for you and crew at work. The vet should have been more open and honest about her treatments. He knew if fluid had built up and other problems with HW. Rita is at peace now, thanking each and everyone who helped her in her final days. Thank you for opening up your, purse, heart and home.
