Meeting other Rotties I was driving home yesterday with Dori in the car, she is now 8 months old, and I saw someone walking with their rottie, and another small dog, I was so excited to see them in my neighborhood! (I've never met another Rottie, Dori either) But I didn't just want to stop my car, and approch them with out some sort of warning/invite. My boyfriend and sisters have told me about seeing them walking down the street, so I'm sure it's the same person. What should I do, Both Dori and I have been in training for about 4 months, and we are well behaved What should I do? What's the right way to handle this?

Re: Meeting other Rotties Maybe you should have pulled over? Just like yourself, it seems to be that us rottie owners love to see & meet other rotts & their owners. I'm sure they would be ecstatic as well. Did you notice what time it was when they were walking or have your boyfriend are sister noticed around what time they have seen them on walks. Running into each other on walk is a very casual meet & a great way to learn if a dog is friendly or not. Unless you know where they live? They are technically your neighbors right????? Introduce yourself. Good Luck with your future rottie friends. :)

Re: Meeting other Rotties There have been times when we were walking our dogs in a park we go to, and people driving by have slowed down and commented about our "beautiful dogs". It turned out a few times that some of those people had rotties or had one at one time, or knew someone who had one. It doesn't take much to break the ice and I doubt that other person would think any less of you if you just pulled over and made a nice comment to get things going. Good luck.

| Re: Meeting other Rotties Oh by all means say hello. I think I'd opt for a "chance" meeting, on lead. And be prepared for her to pull you. She's young and probably hasn't learned not to, yet? Once, we were driving, we had two guys pull up beside us at a red light to ask if we'd be willing to breed her. (I thanked him for the offer, declining as she was still too young and hadn't completed her Championship yet! )Most of the folks we've met are quite nice.

Re: Meeting other Rotties A couple of weeks ago I was walking my 6 month old rottie in my neighborhood and came up to a couple with an older rottie and a smaller dog. They said hello to each other and we were talking, and then all of a sudden their dog latched on to my baby's face!! I didn't know what to do. Now she has a scare across her use to be perfect face. So I would be careful if the dog is older. I will never let my dog go up to another one again. All of the other dog's in the neighborhood have gotten along great, but I would be weary of older dogs of any breed with your young puppy.

Re: Meeting other Rotties My 'girls' Lily and Ruby have met other rotties in the dog park and it is indeed a very special and happy occasion for all. They especially like the males and become quite flirty, believe it or not! My trainer told me there is "breed recognition" and from what I've seen I believe it.

Re: Meeting other Rotties I do think it's a male rottie, it looked very strong, and walked very proud like, if that makes any sence. I will be carefull, I try to be cautious of older dogs when we meet them, cause you never know how they will react when Dori gets excited and wants to play with them. I can't wait for her to meet another rottie.

Re: Meeting other Rotties There is another Rottie in our training class but the owner gives me a feeling (from seeing how he interacts with his girl) that makes me keep Arwen away. There is an online place where you can schedual "meet ups" and meet new people with your same interestes. I am looking into seeing if there are any rottie meets near me. Id love to see Arwen with other rotties, but not ALL rotties (temperment wise and owner carfullness) are created equal.
