| AKC etc. registration Is it possible to register a dog (given he conforms w/ all standards) without having any idea where the parents came from??? Also in order to get certification like schutzhund or any other, does the dog need to be registered?  |

| Re: AKC etc. registration You can get an ILP number from AKC as long as your dog is spayed or neuetered - this will allow you to compete in all of the AKC events with the exception of conformation. Here's the link for more information on ILP numbers: http://www.akc.org/reg/ilpex.cfm You do not need to have papers to compete in Schuthzund...but you need a scorebook (obtained through the Schutzhund organization you wish to compete with). There are other organizations that might register a dog without history of the parents...but they are not reputable organizations.
