Catnip

This may be a strange question, but has anyone heard of any affect that a catnip plant would have on a dog? I'm planting some to help repel mosquitos in a damp area by my back deck. My boy, Max already knows he's not allowed in the planting bed where it will go, but I've read where it has an odor of a cat in heat . Any input will be appreciated.

Sorry can not help you out, but thought it interesting that catnip is a deterrent for mosquitos. Let me know if this works!

My Schipperke, was a pup when I first got him. He was enthralled with the catnip stuffed chipmunk. My vet said that catnip does not hurt dogs. He is over a year old and still loves to play with the catnip toys. He will eat the fresh catnip leaves if he gets a chance, but I discourage that. I usually give it to the cats and gate him out of the room.
