| Re: New York Bill That Would Prohibit Ear Cropping and Tail Docking In light of this Bill, I surely hope that the new ARC BOD will be a bit more open in their consideration of the standard's tail section. It would be a shame to force the NY breeders to be unable to show their dogs!

After reading more about it on the AKC web site, it appears there may be some hope of NOT having it pass. >This act shall take effect August 1, 2006; provided, however, if this act shall become a law< I'm sure the new ARC BOD will be as open in their considerations as the past board.

| Re: New York Bill That Would Prohibit Ear Cropping and Tail Docking I would certainly hope the Bill will not pass, and I will be writing letters against it tonight. However, this is the second time recently that something like this has been tried (Vermont being the first, locally) and it's going to come up again and again. This has nothing to do with whether or not tailed dogs are being shown in the rings, but rather ARA beating on their bongos. In light of the fact that any change made to the standard will be "unchangeable" for 5 years, it just makes me wonder "what if...."

| Re: New York Bill That Would Prohibit Ear Cropping and Tail Docking As I mentioned on the rottie - l, this affects ALL breeds that allow cropping and docking NOT just the Rottweilers. So, it would be advantageous for all dog fanciers to write their representatives immediately to oppose this legislation as suggested on the AKC web site. And; like you, I will be writing my letter of objection as well. It appears that the ARA is attacking dog fanciers from all sides. We have to be as deligent in our counter attacks.
