Cool Animal Control

Well yesterday, my rescued, retrained rotty made me sooo proud

Daisy was an abused, beaten, starved, unsocialized 3 yr old rott when I got her. For the last 2 1/2 yrs I have retrained and socialized this girl. Yesterday her retraining etc. paid off.
After our long walk, we were returning home and was passing by a place that has one of those little sawed off fire cracker. Yanno the ones that everyone think that can do nothing wrong. Well this thing has tried to get at my female before but never made it. Yesterday..it charged her and grabbed her by the face. ( NO DAMAGE this time) Anyway, all Daisy did was knock him off her face and put her head on his body to hold him to the ground. She never tried to bite or anything. This thing was acting like it was rabid it was so nasty ( it isn't). The owners finally came and got it ( but they were afraid of my dogs , meanwhile their dog was goin nuts tryin to bite anything and everyone.
I just took my dogs and went home. I called AC and reported the incident to protect my dogs. The AC went there imeditatly and find them $ 500 and told them that if there is another call out because of this dog...he will be taken and destroyed. For a change...a rotty wasn't blamed
AC relayed to me that alot of pit or rott owners don't report things like this for fear of their dog being blamed but said in fact this protects your dog because it is on file that the other dog charged, jumped or whatever it did.I also had 6 other witnesses.
Thankfully mine are always on leash or tied for the few mins when outside to do their business. They get their off leash time when we take them in the woods so they can run free. That is 3 times a week for about 3 hrs each time.
So remember..if something ever happens like this...call and make a report...you will be protecting your dog and yourself.

Re: Animal Control

Awesome Daisy! What a mental picture...Daisy using her head to hold this pip squeak in place while it's being a noisemaker! (he-he)...It's wonderful to hear about such positive rehabiltated rotties...they definitely proudly represent the rottie breed!

Re: Animal Control

TY
I am very proud of her. I wasn't sure what she would do but now I know. This dog has been thru hell and back and I sure as hell wasn't gonna let this " dog" be the cause of her being PTS. She has come so far and is a total sweety now. Everyone was just about to give up on her but I saw something that even the temp tester didn't see. They wanted to PTS. but I wouldn't let them So I guess even the " pro's" don't always know what they are talking about.

Re: Animal Control

Very proud of Daisy! A friend of mine recently had an unfortunate circumstance where another dog charged, and attacked. Altho this was a large breed, there is still chaos surrounding the whole deal. Attacking dog was injured and attacking dog bit the human holding the Rottie.

Re: Animal Control

Was this reported to AC? Was there other witnesses? If so it should be reported. Don't matter that the attacking dog got hurt. That dog was the aggressor.

Re: Animal Control

This is a great story! I am proud of your dog. Don't want to hijack the thread, but I feel this is relevant. In my city, they are pushing BSL to pass. Included in this, is the mandatory muzzling of Rotties and Pit-bulls. A. If your dog was attacked by a dog that could possibly kill or injure Daisy.
B. You followed the law and had your dog muzzled.
C. Daisy would have absolutely no way of defending herself.
D. Now Daisy would become more fearful, and more aggresive.
MUZZLES should not be on non-vicious dogs!!
Can I have permission, or if you would like to submit your story to my City?
