Re: Why the Rottweiler is NOT for everyone

Hi there,
May I just say that was a great post.
Could I have permission to use this article in a Rottweiler news letter?
Regards

Now, THIS is what I call an article.

I also saw, with relief, the AKC reporting that Rottweiler figures have dropped, but still concerned that there is no count on BYB's.

A dog for the connoiseur, the Rotti.

Most certainly. Please just list me as the author (Gretchen Caldwell).

Thanks!

If the dogs are not registered, then truly, there is not really any way to keep track of them. One could try to use town/city dog registrations (which usually entail listing the breed), but not all dog breeds are described acurately, and not all locations require liscensing/registration.

I would, however, be willing to hazard a guess that the BYB's are following a similar trend (downward) as the ethical breeders. I say this b/c I think the market for homes has really slowed down and BYB's usually operate on supply/demand. If the demand drops and they're getting stuck with litter after litter, they'll switch breeds.
