Dog Massage

Hey guys! Just wanted to share a fun tip. I started doing some massaging on my dogs and they really like it. While doing some shopping, I came across a bunch of those hard plastic massagers with the 3 or 4 knobbies on the ends for $1 so I bought a couple. (compulsive sales shopper) When I got home and was unloading, I thought, I should try this on the dogs. They absolutely LOVE it!!! Much more effective than regular massaging. Xander gets all dopey looking like he is high!!

I bought one of those rubber curry combs (with larger nubs) for Bear and I think he LOVES it for exactly the same reason. It also kills 2 birds with one stone as it's PERFECT for getting all that dead fur off!!!!!

I bought some of those for my boy for Christmas as he is not much for toys and, he loves his massages!

Re: Dog Massage

It also works great to calm him down when he starts running around and trying to play too rough with Kenzi!

Re: Dog Massage

When Toby was alive and had his lower back sprain from herding, I bought him an electric massager to see if he would like it. Much to my surprise, he LOVED it!

Started it on Low with several folds of a towel between the massager and him then worked our way to the massager being directly on him. He would just turn into a BLOB!

Re: Dog Massage

Oh I thought I was about the only wierdo who massaged her dog! I began when Raven had a strained shoulder, last summer. I knew she would never own up to pain. A nice gentle all over massage brought the most silly pleased look to her face!

Re: Dog Massage

After Hannah had her Cruciate Ligament Repair, my son began massaging her. I know this helped her recovery as she stopped limping (favoring) the repaired leg shortly after he started his massage routine.

She tolerated the physical therapy excercises prescribed by the vet but she really liked the massage and just melted into a barely conscious blob every time he did it.

Re: Dog Massage

I also had a professional dog masseuse work on Toby when his injury was acute. It was so funny. She would work on one side then tell Toby, "Flip Toby" and he would calmly and without even opening his eyes, roll over to his other side!
