AKC registration only is pretty weak proof that a dog is pure blood. AKC registration say nothing of the quality of any breed and this is one example; a blue eyed rottweiler.

No, and as Orville says, registration doesn't mean the dog IS purebred. I've also seen a 90+# Basset that I fell sure was no more purebred than my neighbors'Heinz 57. (The owners didn't think the dog was purebred either.) And blue eyes are not allowed in the breed standard (for any country) so a characteristic that is not in the breed standard should automatically be assumed NOT to be good. Should the dog actually be purebred and the eyes blue, one would have to assume there was some sort of physical problem involved; again not good.

blue eyed rott?

I recently saw a blue eyed rott, he was pure blood and AKC registered. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this trait?

Nope, but then again there are Red Rottweilers out there too. Bottom line is they should be spayed or neutered since they have a DQing fault. I would also have it's eyes checked to make sure there aren't any problems.

Blues eyes on a Rottie are an absolute fault, as far as the standards of the breed are concerned. Once again, AKC registration papers don't mean much... a lot of people takes the AKC as proof of "pure-blooded", but don't know how easy is to register a dog with AKC ("blind" faith)... and then produce mass litters too, and bred to your own will. No testing controls whatsoever. It's a pitiful fact of life, in detriment of our beloved breed.
