| For anyone who is anywhere near the W. Springfield, MA area, this collection is being done at the Agility For A Cause trial (will benefit cancer research, specifically hemangiosarcoma this year) PLEASE consider coming by with your dogs and have their cheek swabs done! This is open to ALL BREEDS!! (info below sent to me by a friend). ********** Permission granted to cross posts. I have some exciting news. The OFA contacted me yesterday, asking if they could roll out their new DNA Repository program at Agility for a Cause. Some of you may have donated your dogs' DNA at the Golden Retriever National. This is the same program and AFAC is the first all-breed collection site. So, if you are in the West Springfield, Massachusetts area next Friday and Saturday (2/3-4), whether or not you are entered in the trial, bring your dog or dogs to have their DNA collected. The DNA will be collected via cheek swabs that are non-invasive (no blood or needles involved) and usually don't bother dogs at all. You will need to bring your dog's AKC number and you'll be asked to fill out information about your dog's health so bring along her hip/elbow/heart/thyroid and eye clearances if you have them. For more about AFAC, go to http://www.agilityforacause.org/. Our raffles are still open so check them out while you are on the site. If you can't make it to AFAC, you can still submit your dog's DNA. To find out more go to http://www.caninehealthinfo.org/dnabank.html.
