Re: Looking for insurance Mercury Casualty may insure "dogs", but I couldn't even get a quote out of them once they heard "Rrrrrrrrrrro". Since my car insurance had been with them for many years, I figured they'd be the best ones to check out first when my other homeowner's company left the housing market. Wrong. That was about 4 years ago, so I can hope they've seen the light. Won't hurt to try. I wound up getting my insurance through State Farm, whose policy is that the independent agents make the call on whether a dog is one they feel comfortable insuring. I walked right into their office initially, with Luna at my side, to inquire about insurance, and the agent came and visited here at the house after the application was completed. The agent had zero problem with her, and noted on my application that there was a "very friendly Rottweiler" living on the property. So I guess the key is to find a Rottweiler friendly agent, or at least one with an open mind that is willing to meet your dog before making a decision on coverage.

Re: Looking for insurance I was in the same boat as Moondog. l was long time Mercury customer and they canceled me when I moved to my new house three years ago. I had Buster for two years, so they knew I had a Rottie. I quickly got auto/home through Safeco. They did send a guy out to inspect my fencing. They've been great.

Re: Looking for insurance I have not had a problem getting insurance through State Farm for my home. They know I have a Rottweiler and when I first started with them I had a Great Dane. Check out their web site.

Re: Looking for insurance Hi I'm new on this site and saw this post and thought " I was in the same position not too long ago". We went with Allstate Insurance and they advised me that the rottie is a "caution" dog not a "high risk". The price was not changed due to the dog. Hope that helps.
