Re: Help finding best rott books

"Culture Clash" by Joan Donaldson was recommended to me and it was great!!!
It is a good book to gain insight into dog behavior.

I do NOT reccomend - Rottweillers for Dummies. Much of the imformation goes against what I have read on this forum. My intuition tells me many of the members of this forum are much more knowledgeable.

Re: Help finding best rott books

Hi Trittie,

"The Complete Rottweiler" by Muriel Freeman is an excellent rottie book. Mrs Freeman is a legend in the breed and her book is concise and very well written.

"The Ultimate Rottweiler" (1st or 2nd Ed.) by Andrew H. Brace is another very good one that comes to mind. it includes an illustrated standard that helps you better visualize the written standard, and a judges viewpoint in which judges from the US, Britain & Germany offer pictorial critiques of 6 rotts.

"The World of Rottweilers" by Anna Katherine Nicholas is a good one as well. It has many photos, and info on influential rottweiler kennels of the past. (some of which are still going strong today)

"The Professionals book of Rottweilers" by Anna Katherine Nicholas. A monster of a book (feels like it weighs about 5 lbs :) with nearly 700 colour pics.

These books are older releases but are better (IMO) than many of the newer books that are out right now. You can find them for sale on ebay quite cheap and on a consistent basis....

Hope this helps,

I agree! This book was an awesome read & I just loved it. Typically I don't read dog books cover to cover, but I couldn't put this one down.

Also, I love the book "Dogs are From Neptune" by Jean Donaldson. Another great book by her.

If you need a Rott Book for the Little ones, Try "Good Dog Carl" it's a series by Alexandra Day.

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions. I ordered a few books, and got one of the Good Dog Carl books for the kids.
