PetsHotel anyone used it?

My husband and I are planning a trip out of town in a couple of weeks for a couple of days. Normally I board Elsa at our vets but this time I wanted to try something different...I wasn't too happy with our last visit. Has anyone used PetsHotel/PetSmart boarding services? Thanks for any help.

I haven't used it, but when I picked up the little flyer at Petsmart, I thought they were quite pricey. I have the Cozy Inn Pet Resort about a mile down the road. It's about $20 a day for a Rottweiler and they get a "room" with a bed, socialization with other pups, swimming, nature hikes, complimentary baths, massages, all kinds of stuff. I worked there for a time and the girls are great with the animals. I'm going to go check out the Petsmart place on the internet.

Well I called them to get some info.

It's $23 for a 4x6room, with 3 walks a day, and feedings...I'll be providing my own food.

For $33 she will get a 5x7 room 3 walks a day, a cott and TV, 3 walks a day.

You can add on extras for more money, like more walks, more one on one time, and group play.

I'm going up there today to check it out; I'll follow up with what I see.

A TV? Why would a dog need a TV? Just curious.

Seems like there are legal methods to “steal” dog owners money. Is this the price pr. day?

Order a room, food, water and a place where the dog can relief itself, that's ALL it needs (and it definitely doesn’t need group play!)

Ha ha. You think that is bad. I just found a local place here in Nashville that is $53 per day!!!! It looks very nice but can you imagine...... if I wanted to board my three dogs for a week??? Over a thousand dollars!

Now you sound like my husband . He thought Elsa should be fine in the 23bucks a day room...and yes that is per day.

I haven't gone up there yet...friends at the gym were telling me about nice kennels in our area. This one is about 30minutes away. So I'm not even what to do right now. I wish I could leave her at home, but my MIL is taking care of the kids and house while I'm gone and I dont trust her with the dog...funny how I trust her with my kids though. Well maybe not

I took tour of Petsmart Hotel and I wasn't impressed. TV for dogs is silly.

Yes leave TV on

I always leave a TV on for my dogs. A radio will work the same. It covers up noise that might get them barking. My dogs think toy dogs are just that TOYS. It keeps them from having to listen the the yappers and wanting to toss it in the air.

Years ago it was kennels and then Vets got in the business. Most Vets around here are just a crate and a couple walks a day. We wonder why they have GI problems and joints stiff. You get what you pay for is the way I look at it. You also have to not worry about your dog when you are gone. That is worth a few extra bucks a day. I am not going to pay as much as a hotel for me.

Yeah I agree I'm not getting the TV room. Were there any other things that you didn’t like?

I'm dropping Elsa off in the morning and must say I'm a bit nervous; she has only been in the care of her vet while I'm away. At least this is just a long weekend trial

Thanks for any suggestions

Digger that is a good point about maybe the sound of the TV would cover the barks and cries of other dogs. Thanks for bringing that into light.

I dont have a problem with spending money for piece of mind, I know Elsa will be safer there than here at home with my MIL. That being said, it all has to be w/in reason

It's not the cost or the ammenitys it's the people that work there.

If you have a good feeling about the staff go for it. Meet the people that will handle your dog before you book.

Cool Update

Well, today is our first day home and Elsa is pooped. PetsHotel part of PetSmart, ended up being a really good choice. Elsa was treated well and the people were really excited to have her there. I liked the fact that someone was always there 24hrs a day, and a vet is always on call and it is climate controlled. So as far as I can tell it’s a good place to board, a bit pricey but worth it. The staff was great!!!
